Thus, the Procurement Manager position is critical in ensuring cost-effective, high-quality sourcing aligned with DCGPac’s scale, product diversity, and sustainability goals.
About the Role
The Procurement Manager will lead the sourcing, supplier management, and procurement operations for DCGPac’s broad portfolio of packaging and warehouse materials. This role combines strategic sourcing, cost optimization, quality assurance, supplier relation management, and cross-functional coordination (design, operations, logistics, R&D). The focus will be on ensuring reliable supply, meeting quality specifications, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting sustainable packaging initiatives.
Responsibilities:-
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
- Define and execute procurement strategies for packaging, raw materials, warehouse supplies, and ancillary products.
- Segment procurement into categories (corrugated boxes, films, tapes, sustainable packaging, machinery, etc.) and build category road-maps.
- Lead supplier segmentation, rationalization, and consolidation plans to optimize cost, quality, and risk.
- Collaborate with R&D / design teams to evaluate new materials or sustainable alternatives (e.g. compostable films, biodegradable polymers) in line with DCGPac’s EcoPac / RePac initiatives.
Supplier Identification, Onboarding & Development
- Source and evaluate domestic and global suppliers (local manufacturers, overseas vendors) for quality, cost, delivery reliability, and compliance.
- Perform supplier audits, due diligence, capability assessments, and capacity checks.
- Lead supplier onboarding, contract negotiation, and integration.
- Drive supplier development & continuous improvement programs (quality, lead times, process upgrades, ESG practices).
Negotiation & Contract Management
- Lead negotiation of prices, terms & conditions, payment terms, delivery SLAs, penalty clauses, exclusivity, warranties, etc.
- Draft and manage supplier agreements, NDAs, master procurement contracts, legal & compliance review.
- Establish and enforce performance structures: KPIs, SLAs, scorecards, escalation mechanisms.
Procurement Operations & Execution
- Issue RFx (RFQ, RFP, RFI), evaluate responses, perform bid comparison and select optimal vendors.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, monitor order fulfillment, delivery schedules, logistics coordination.
- Track lead times, manage buffer stock, safety stock, reorder points.
- Monitor and resolve procurement exceptions — delays, short shipments, quality rejections, mismatches.
Quality & Compliance Assurance
- Work closely with QC / quality control labs to ensure material compliance, testing, certifications, and standards.
- Ensure supplier compliance with applicable statutory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Incorporate compliance and ESG / sustainability clauses into contracts.
Cost Management, Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and track procurement KPIs: cost savings, spend under management, supplier on-time delivery, quality rejects, procurement cycle time, etc.
- Use data analytics and spend analysis to find opportunities for savings, vendor consolidation, demand aggregation.
- Prepare procurement budget, forecasts, and monitor actuals vs plans.
- Conduct regular reviews with stakeholders to assess procurement performance.
Risk Management & Sustainability
- Identify supply chain risks (supplier insolvency, raw material volatility, geopolitical, regulatory) and devise mitigation strategies (dual sourcing, buffer stocks).
- Lead initiatives to adopt sustainable packaging options, circular supply (RePac), reduce waste and support ESG goals.
- Monitor industry trends, raw material price fluctuations, regulatory changes, and feed into procurement strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Interface with design, operations, logistics, sales, and R&D teams to align procurement with business needs, BOM changes, demand forecasts, etc.
- Serve as procurement subject matter expert in new product development, cost-down programs, packaging innovation projects.
- Collaborate with finance for payment terms, vendor risk analysis, working capital management.
Team Leadership & Process Optimization
- Manage and mentor a team of procurement buyers/analysts.
- Define roles, objectives, metrics, training and development.
- Establish standardized procurement processes, tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Drive automation, digital procurement tools (e-procurement, supplier portals, analytics dashboards).
Required Qualifications & Skills:-
Education
: Bachelor’s in Engineering/ Technology/ Packaging and printing / Supply Chain / Commerce / Business. MBA or postgrad is a plus.Experience
: minimum 5 years (or as relevant) in procurement/sourcing in manufacturing, packaging, FMCG, or logistics sectors, with at least 3 years in leadership role.- Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience.
- Deep domain knowledge in packaging materials, raw materials, logistics, and supply chain.
- Analytical skills, comfortable in data-driven decision-making, spend analysis, Excel, procurement tools.
- Experience with procurement / ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, ION, Coupa, etc.).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Leadership, coaching, team development capabilities.
- Understanding of quality assurance, certification standards (ISO, material testing, etc.).
- Knowledge of sustainability, ESG practices, and ecofriendly packaging trends.
- Risk management skills and strategic mindset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup / scale-up environment.
