Job Description: Safety, Health, Environment & Operations Manager (SHEO Manager)Position OverviewThe SHEO Manager will be responsible for ensuring safe operations, environmental compliance, health monitoring, administrative excellence, and effective project management. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to achieve business and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities1. SafetyDevelop, implement, and monitor safety systems (HIRAC, JSA, PSM, Emergency Preparedness Plan, SOPs, etc.).
Drive safety initiatives: Near Miss, Unsafe Act/Condition reporting, Safety Toolbox Talks, PTW, LOTO, Mock Drills, Tabletop Exercises, and 5S practices.
Organize safety trainings, refresher programs, BBS, and mass awareness sessions.
Manage internal/external audits and ensure legal compliance.
Conduct incident analysis and implement corrective actions.
Promote safety culture through competitions, campaigns, and engagement activities.
Implement engineering controls/upgradation for enhanced safety systems.
Review safety performance, monitor costs, and ensure continuous improvement.
2. EnvironmentMonitor environmental performance parameters and ensure compliance with statutory norms.
Maintain and improve environment-related systems and equipment.
Conduct environmental awareness and refresher training.
Ensure adherence to environmental legal compliance and audits.
3. HealthOversee health monitoring programs for employees and associates.
Promote workplace health initiatives and awareness.
4. OperationsPlan and execute shutdown activities safely and efficiently.
5. Administration & People DevelopmentManage documentation (logbooks, MIS, training records, safety, environment, and quality reports).
Develop and implement training modules (technical, refresher, and multi-skilling).
Drive business excellence initiatives (Six Sigma, FMEA, QC Projects, Lean, 5S).
Lead talent pool development, coaching, and mentoring.
Enhance leadership, soft skills, communication, and presentation across teams.
Manage performance evaluations, feedback, and employee engagement programs.
Oversee material & contract management, cost monitoring, and audit compliance (ISO, Safety, Quality, TS, Customer).
Promote organizational branding, values, ethics, and culture.
6. Project ManagementIdentify, prioritize, and execute projects (internal and external).
Manage PRs, SPRs, technical discussions, procurement, and execution phases.
Lead cross-functional project teams for design, engineering, fabrication, trials, and handover.
7. Coordination & Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with departments: QA/QC, R&D, Purchase, Contracts, Stores, Internal Suppliers, Customers, Maintenance, etc.
Ensure effective communication with auditors, project teams, central services, and corporate stakeholders.
Support ISO audits, cost management, finance, taxation, and business excellence reviews.
Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Safety / Environment Management (Master’s preferred).
Professional certifications in Safety, Environment, or Six Sigma desirable.
10–15 years of experience in Safety, Health, Environment, or Operations in a manufacturing/industrial setup.
Strong knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent leadership, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in SAP PM, MS Office, and Project Management tools.
Strong analytical, communication, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
