Role Overview
As HR Generalist, you will be the owner of payroll processing for ~300+ employees while also managing critical HR functions such as compliance, hiring, onboarding, performance cycles, and employee engagement. You’ll work closely with Finance, Legal, and Business teams to ensure accurate and compliant HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Talent Acquisition & Onboarding (Primary Focus)
- Partner with hiring managers to manage end-to-end recruitment for technical and business roles
- Drive sourcing via job portals, LinkedIn, referrals, Agencies
- Manage onboarding: documentation, IT/Admin coordination, induction programs

Payroll Management (Primary Focus)
- Own and manage monthly payroll processing for 500+ employees
- Coordinate with Finance, HRIS, and payroll vendors to ensure accurate inputs (attendance, leaves, bonuses, reimbursements, taxes)
- Ensure statutory compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and other applicable labor laws
- Handle audits, inspections, and timely filings (e.g., Form 24Q, ECR uploads, etc.)
- Address payroll-related employee queries and discrepancies promptly
- Maintain confidentiality and data accuracy in payroll records

HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and documentation
- Ensure adherence to labor laws and manage compliance audits
- Administer leave, attendance, and benefits programs

Performance & Employee Engagement
- Support execution of OKR/KPI-based performance reviews
- Coordinate feedback sessions and performance coaching with managers
- Drive engagement initiatives: surveys, recognition, team-building
- Act as the HR point-of-contact for day-to-day employee concerns

HR Reporting & Analytics
- Maintain dashboards and reports on headcount, attrition, payroll, hiring, and performance
- Present data-driven insights to leadership for strategic decisions
Qualifications
- 6–9 years of HR experience, with 3+ years in end-to-end payroll management for 300+ employees
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, and statutory compliance (India: PF, ESI, PT, TDS, etc.)
- Experience with payroll tools (e.g., Keka, Zoho Payroll, ADP, GreytHR)
- Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills and familiarity with HRIS platforms
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in a startup or tech-focused environment preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a product or engineering-focused company
- Familiarity with DEI initiatives, wellness programs, and remote workforce challenges
- Knowledge of labor laws in multiple states (if relevant)
