Job Overview
The Assistant Manager – Procurement at Amwoodo will be responsible for managing and executing both domestic and international procurement activities. This role ensures sourcing of goods and services at optimal cost, quality, and delivery, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and company policies. The person will collaborate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, logistics, finance, and customs teams to ensure smooth flow of goods, minimize cost, and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Domestic Procurement
- Identify, evaluate, and select domestic suppliers for materials, components, general goods & services required by the company.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Raise purchase orders (POs), ensure POs are accurate (specs, Make/ Brand, terms & conditions).
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, compliance), maintain supplier scorecards.
- Collaborate with internal teams (production, quality assurance, stores, finance) to ensure needs are clearly defined and met.
- International Procurement & Imports
- Source and evaluate international suppliers; carry out supplier audits / assessments when needed.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial terms (INCOTERMS, payment methods like L/C, T/T etc.).
- Manage import logistics: coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers.
- Ensure compliance with import/export laws, foreign trade policy, customs duties, documentation (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, etc.).
- Monitor lead times, manage risks related to international supply chain (currency fluctuation, customs delays, shipping disruptions).
- Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimisation
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for categories (direct and indirect procurement).
- Perform market research, benchmark supplier performance, and pricing trends.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, supplier consolidation.
- Inventory & Demand Planning Support
- Work with demand planning / production teams to forecast requirements for materials to avoid stock-outs or overstocking.
- Maintain minimum order quantities, reorder levels, and safety stock levels.
- Contracts, Legal & Risk Management
- Draft, review, negotiate and manage supplier contracts/agreements (for domestic & international vendors).
- Ensure supplier compliance with company policies, quality, safety, environmental standards.
- Monitor and mitigate procurement-related risks (quality failures, delays, regulatory issues).
- Cross-functional & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (design/engineering, quality, operations, finance, legal, logistics) to understand requirements and align procurement plans.
- Communicate delivery status, potential delays, cost impacts to relevant teams.
- Systems, Reporting & Compliance
- Manage and maintain procurement systems (ERP / P2P tools), vendor master data, procurement records.
- Prepare regular MIS reports: procurement spend, savings, supplier performance, lead times.
- Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies, audit requirements, compliance with statutory & trade regulations.
- Team Leadership / Supervision
- Supervise junior procurement/executive staff as applicable, provide guidance, training, performance evaluation.
- Ensure team achieves targets (savings, lead times, quality).
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain / Logistics / Engineering / Commerce or relevant field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g. CIPS, CPSM, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience: Typically, 4-7 years in procurement / sourcing, with significant exposure to both domestic and international purchasing. Prior experience handling import documentation, freight, customs, etc.
- Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of supply chain / logistics for imports/exports.
- Familiarity with procurement best practices, contract management, and legal / regulatory aspects (domestic & international).
- Strong analytical skills; ability to work with data; proficiency with MS Excel, ERP / P2P systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work under pressure.
- Good stakeholder management skills; ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Knowledge of cost modelling, total cost of ownership.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Savings achieved (cost reduction vs targets).
- On-time delivery performance (supplier lead-times met).
- Quality performance of suppliers (defects / rejections).
- Inventory turns / stock-out incidents.
- Compliance metrics (documentation, regulatory, audit).
- Supplier performance and reliability.
- Process / cycle time of procurement (req to PO to delivery).
Travel / Other Requirements
- Some domestic travel to supplier locations, sites, warehouses as needed.
- Possible occasional international vendor visits or trade show attendance.
- Flexibility to work with different time zones for international suppliers.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
