Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in the INDIA Region for a Senior Tooling Engineer. The Senior Tooling Engineer will spearhead tooling design, collaborate with the manufacturing team, and ensure adherence to industry standards for production. They will oversee injection molding processes, optimize mechanical operations, and utilize computer-aided design (CAD) tools to create and refine designs for equipment and tooling systems. Responsibilities also include addressing technical challenges and maintaining production efficiency.

Position Overview:

The Tooling & Jigs Fixture Engineer


Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Development

  • Design

    jigs, fixtures, gauges, and special-purpose tooling

    for machining, welding, assembly, and inspection.
  • Ensure fixture designs meet

    ergonomic, accuracy, and repeatability

    standards.
  • Optimize designs for

    ease of manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance

    .
  • Evaluate and validate prototype tooling and implement design improvements.


2. Manufacturing & Implementation

  • Plan and execute

    fabrication of fixtures

    (in-house or via vendors).
  • Select suitable

    materials, fasteners, locators, clamps, and hydraulic/pneumatic elements

    for fixture design.
  • Work closely with the

    machine shop and production team

    to ensure correct installation and alignment of jigs/fixtures.
  • Perform

    try-outs

    and confirm dimensional accuracy before release to production.


3. Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Establish

    preventive maintenance plans

    for tooling and fixtures.
  • Conduct

    inspection and refurbishment

    of existing fixtures as per lifecycle requirements.
  • Update documentation, drawings, and revision control for each fixture/tooling.
  • Continuously improve tooling based on production feedback, NCRs, or quality audits.


4. Quality & Process Control

  • Support QA/QC with

    dimensional verification, GD&T interpretation, and inspection fixture design.

  • Ensure tooling contributes to consistent process capability (Cpk/Ppk)

    and product tolerances.
  • Participate in

    FMEA, Root Cause Analysis

    , and

    process capability studies

    related to fixture performance.


5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain complete documentation for

    BOMs, design files, drawings, calibration records, and maintenance logs.

  • Comply with ISO / ASME / API / client-specific engineering standards.

  • Support audit requirements and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) closure.


Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of

    mechanical design fundamentals

    , GD&T, and machining processes.
  • Proficiency in

    CAD software

    (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / NX / CATIA / Creo).
  • Knowledge of

    CNC machining, welding, fabrication, metrology, and material science

    .
  • Experience in

    hydraulic, pneumatic, or modular fixture systems

    is desirable.
  • Ability to perform

    tolerance stack-up and structural strength analysis

    .


Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Effective communication with production, design, and QA teams.
  • Excellent documentation and project management discipline.
  • Hands-on approach, with practical shop-floor experience.


Educational Qualification:

  • Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Tool Engineering

    or equivalent.
  • Additional certification in

    Tool Design or CAD/CAM

    preferred.


Experience:

  • 3 to 10 years

    of relevant experience in

    tooling, jig & fixture design, fabrication, and validation

    within manufacturing, machining, or engineering service sectors.
  • Experience in industries like

    Oil & Gas, Heavy Engineering, Automotive, Aerospace, or Fabrication

    preferred.

  • Fixture delivery within timeline and budget.
  • Reduction in setup time and rework percentage.
  • Tooling reliability and downtime reduction.
  • Quality compliance and dimensional accuracy.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives executed per quarter.
  • To handle operators and site management.
