Job Description

Position Overview

The Hot Tapping & Line Stopple Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and supervising all hot tapping and line stopple operations in pipelines, plants, and industrial facilities. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely execution of activities while meeting technical, safety, quality, and client requirements. The manager will oversee teams, manage equipment and resources, and act as the key technical authority for in-service pipeline intervention projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute hot tapping and line stopple projects as per client scope, technical specifications, and industry standards.

  • Develop work execution plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Ensure timely mobilization/demobilization of manpower, tools, and equipment.
  • Operations Supervision

  • Lead field execution teams during hot tapping and line stopple activities.

  • Monitor pressure control, equipment integrity, and pipeline safety during live interventions.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and provide on-site decision-making.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce compliance with safety protocols, permit-to-work systems, and emergency procedures.

  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure zero incidents and adherence to international HSE standards.
  • Technical Expertise

  • Review and approve technical drawings, designs, and welding procedures.

  • Ensure proper selection and use of line stopple fittings, hot tapping machines, and consumables.
  • Liaise with design/engineering teams for feasibility and execution methods.
  • Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and mentor hot tapping technicians and field engineers.

  • Allocate manpower and resources effectively across projects.
  • Develop competency matrix and training programs for field staff.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients during execution.

  • Provide technical clarifications, progress updates, and close-out reports.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain records of operations, consumables, and equipment performance.

  • Prepare daily progress reports, job completion reports, and lessons learned documentation.
  • Contribute to budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 8–15 years of experience in hot tapping, line stopple, and pipeline intervention services.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, API, and related pipeline standards.
  • Proven track record of managing teams and large-scale field operations.
  • Certification in HSE (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with hot tapping machines, line stopple equipment, and pressure control systems.
