Manager - Accounts Payable

About the Role

The Accounts Payable Manager will lead the end-to-end procure-to-pay (P2P) function, ensuring seamless invoice processing, accurate vendor payments, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting and tax regulations. This role is critical in maintaining the organization's financial accuracy, improving payment efficiency, and strengthening vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and experienced in managing high-volume AP operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounts Payable Operations

• Manage the full AP lifecycle: invoice receipt, 3-way matching, approval workflow, posting, and payment execution.
• Oversee daily invoice approvals and ensure adherence to payment terms and internal policies.
• Ensure timely vendor payments through NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/cheques/online banking platforms.
• Review and clear GR/IR pending items periodically.
• Handle vendor reconciliations and resolve issues related to short payments, debit notes, and mismatches.

2. Vendor Management & Coordination

• Manage vendor onboarding, including KYC, GST, PAN, and bank verification.
• Maintain updated vendor master data and ensure accuracy of records.
• Address vendor queries, disputes, and escalations with timely resolution.
• Work closely with Procurement, Operations, and Treasury teams to ensure smooth coordination.

3. Compliance, Controls & Audit Support

• Ensure proper TDS deductions, GST input credit validation, and statutory compliance for vendor payments.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls within the P2P cycle.
• Prepare documentation and support statutory, internal, tax, and management audits.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

4. Reporting & Month-End Activities

• Prepare AP ageing reports, payment forecasts, and cash flow requirements for weekly/monthly cycles.
• Ensure accurate month-end closing: accruals, expense booking, and reconciliations.
• Analyse AP metrics and share MIS reports with management.

5. Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead, train, and mentor the Accounts Payable team to ensure high performance.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Drive automation initiatives using ERP tools, OCR systems, workflow automation, and digital payment processes.
• Set and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and productivity metrics for the AP team.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of end-to-end P2P processes.
• Good knowledge of GST, TDS, RCM, vendor compliance, and relevant tax laws.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, MIS dashboards).
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor-handling skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field (B.Com, M.Com, BBA, MBA Finance).
• 5–10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable / P2P operations.
• Minimum 2–4 years of managerial or team-leading experience.
• Experience handling high invoice volumes in mid to large-scale organizations preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
