About the role

We’re looking for a seasoned HR Manager to lead end-to-end HR for our India operations. This role owns talent acquisition, the full employee lifecycle, with special focus on payroll governance, compliance with Indian labor laws, and people leadership. The ideal candidate brings proven experience scaling HR programs, managing teams, and partnering with business leaders to build a high-performance, inclusive culture.


Key responsibilities

1.HR leadership and strategy

Serve as the HR partner for India, advising leadership on org design, workforce planning, and change management.

Translate business goals into an HR roadmap with measurable outcomes across talent, capability, engagement, and retention.

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HR team.


2.Talent acquisition

  • Build and execute a hiring strategy for India ensuring quality, speed, and DEI goals.
  • Own the recruitment lifecycle: workforce planning, role design, sourcing, interviewing, selection, offers, and onboarding.
  • Optimize ATS workflows, interview standards, and structured selection practices.

 

3.HR operations and employee lifecycle

  • Oversee onboarding, probation, confirmations, transfers, promotions, and exits with a focus on employee experience and control.

 

4,Payroll ownership and governance

  • Oversee monthly payroll processing for India and all regions end-to-end in partnership with Finance and payroll vendors.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and timely remittance of statutory contributions and deductions.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll policies, audit trails, and compliance calendars.
  • Manage year-end activities such as Form 16, income tax proofs, bonus/ex gratia calculations, and full-and-final settlements.


5.Compliance and labor law

  • Ensure compliance with central and applicable state laws and rules, including but not limited to:
  • Own registrations, licenses, inspections, and filings. Maintains statutory registers, returns, and notices as per requirements.
  • Establish internal controls, risk assessments, and periodic compliance audits. Manage vendor compliance and contractor governance.

 

6.Performance, development, and engagement

  • Oversee and run performance cycles, calibration, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Oversee engagement surveys, action planning, and culture-building programs that improve belonging and performance.

 

7.Employee relations and grievance handling

  • Handle ER issues, disciplinary procedures, and investigations fairly and consistently. Liaise with external counsel when needed.
  • Rewards and workforce analytics
  • Deliver dashboards on headcount, hiring funnel metrics, payroll cost, attrition, diversity, leave trends, and engagement indicators.
  • Vendor and budget management

·      Manage payroll providers, benefits brokers, and recruitment agencies. Track SLAs and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 3–5 years in a people leadership role managing HR teams.
  • Demonstrated experience working within organizations that manage or support back-office operations or shared service centres, with responsibility for overseeing HR, recruitment, payroll, and administrative functions.
  • Demonstrated ownership of India payroll operations at scale, including statutory compliance and audit readiness.
  • Strong recruiting experience across multiple functions and levels, with mastery of structured hiring and ATS tools.
  • Deep working knowledge of Indian labor laws and state-level rules, including recent and upcoming Code implementations.
  • Proven track record supporting senior business leaders and influencing outcomes with data and insight.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion with sensitive information, and bias for practical problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across time zones and cultures.

 

Education and certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or post-graduate specialization in HR preferred.
  • Professional certifications are a plus: SHRM-CP/SCP, or Indian labor law certifications.
