Role SummaryAs a Senior Quality Engineer, you will lead quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout the product development lifecycle—from product design through production and post-production. You will ensure that products meet both regulatory standards and customer expectations in terms of safety, reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities· Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) per relevant standards (ISO, IEC, etc.).
· Define and drive quality metrics, KPIs; analyze product failure data, non-conformities, and take corrective & preventive action (CAPA).
· Work with design, development, production, and procurement teams to set quality requirements for components, raw materials, processes, and final products.
· Plan and execute inspections, audits, and validations (incoming materials, in-process, final inspection).
· Establish test protocols and ensure rigorous testing for electrical safety, fire safety, gas sensors, environmental testing (temperature, humidity), mechanical robustness, etc.
· Help in root-cause analysis of defects / failures / field returns; lead investigations and recommend design or process improvements.
· Drive supplier quality management: qualification, audits, incoming material inspection, performance monitoring.
· Support reliability and durability testing, accelerated life testing, stress testing as applicable for safety devices.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and certifications (e.g. CE, UL, BIS, etc.) for fire, gas, intrusion detection systems as needed.
· Mentor junior quality engineers; train and promote quality culture across teams.
· Coordinate with production for process audits, control plans, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), etc.
· Maintain documentation (quality manuals, inspection reports, test plans, quality records) as per internal and external audit requirements.
Qualifications & Skills· Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field).
· Experience: Minimum ~5‑8 years (or more) of quality engineering experience, ideally in safety-critical / detection / IoT / electronics manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of quality tools / techniques: statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, PPAP, root cause analysis, FMEA, measurement system analysis.
· Familiar with regulatory and safety standards relevant to fire & gas detection systems, sensors, alarms. Exposure to ISO/IEC, BIS, UL etc.
· Hands on testing & validation skills: environmental, electrical, safety, mechanical stress etc.
· Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and materials.
· Excellent problem‑solving skills, analytical mindset, attention to detail.
· Strong communication skills; ability to work cross‑functionally (R&D, production, suppliers).
· Leadership experience: mentoring teams, driving continuous improvement.
· Preferably experience with quality tools/software (Minitab, Quality Planning, etc.).
Other Desired Competencies· Ability to travel to factory (Satara) for audits / inspections / process monitoring.
· Familiarity with IoT / wireless sensors / embedded systems is a plus.
· Knowledge of safety norms / certifications in global markets (if the company intends to export) is advantageous.
Reporting & Stakeholders· Reports to: Head of Quality / Director of Engineering (depending on structure).
· Key stakeholders: R&D, Manufacturing / Production, Procurement, Suppliers, Field Service / Customer Support.
