As we scale, we need a sharp Cost Accountant to anchor our costing practices and support margin growth.

Role Summary

You will own the costing function for our plant(s). You will develop, maintain, analyze, and improve costing systems, provide variance insights, support pricing & decision making, and drive cost optimization across operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and update standard costs

  (materials, labour, overhead) and appropriate allocation bases.
• Analyze variances (material, labor, overhead) vs standards / budgets, explain root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement teams to validate / update

  BOMs, routings, yield losses, scrap

  assumptions.
• Handle

  inventory & WIP accounting

  : physical counts, reconciliation, variances, reserve / write-offs, adjustment entries.
• Participate in

  month-end / quarter-end / year-end closing

  for cost of goods sold, allocations, accruals, and prepare cost reports.
• Support

  budgeting & forecasting

  for manufacturing cost centers; highlight cost trends and risk areas.
• Provide cost input to

  pricing, quoting, new product introduction

  (should-cost / make-vs-buy analysis).
• Drive

  cost reduction initiatives

  , process improvements, automation in costing workflows & reporting.
• Ensure internal controls in costing / inventory, assist in audits, and document costing policies / assumptions.
• Ad hoc analysis & support to leadership around margin, product profitability, cost scenarios.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance / Commerce (or equivalent).

• 5-7 years of Experience and Strong knowledge of cost accounting techniques

  : standard costing, absorption costing, variance analysis, activity-based costing.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (cost modules, inventory, MRP / production integration).
• Advanced Excel skills—pivot tables, VLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH, data modelling; familiarity with BI / reporting tools (Power BI / Tableau) is a plus.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail; ability to dig into data and connect cost drivers.
• Good communication skills; ability to explain cost insights to operations / non-finance audiences.
• Process orientation, initiative-taking, ability to drive improvements.

Preferred / Plus

• Experience in packaging, plastics, FMCG or related manufacturing domain

• Exposure to lean / continuous cost improvement, target costing, Kaizen, etc.
• Certifications: CMA / ICWA / equivalent.
• Multi-plant costing experience, global costing exposure.
• Exposure to Odoo ERP cost / CO module.
