Cost Accountant

Role & responsibilities

• Cost analysis and reporting

  :

Analyze actual costs against standard costs, identify variances, and prepare detailed reports for management.

• Budgeting and forecasting

  :

Prepare budgets, forecast future costs, and assist in developing financial plans.

• Cost control

  :

Monitor and control expenses, recommend changes to reduce costs, and improve overall cost efficiency.

• Inventory management

  :

Value inventory, handle inventory accounting, and perform reconciliations and analysis.

• System development

  :

Develop and maintain cost accounting manuals and systems for recording costs.

• Auditing

  :

Conduct internal cost audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Financial statement support

  :

Assist in month-end close activities, including journal entry review and account reconciliations.

Required skills and qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting and cost management software.
• Effective communication skills to present financial data to stakeholders.
• Significant experience with accounting procedures.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required, and certifications like CMA can be beneficial.
