Job Description

Role & responsibilities - Inspecting Incoming Materials: Verify that raw materials (e.g., iron ore, scrap metal) meet specified quality standards before they enter the production process. In-Process Inspections: Monitor the quality of steel during various stages of production (e.g., melting, rolling, forming) to ensure consistency and prevent defects. Finished Product Inspection: Conduct final inspections on steel products (e.g., sheets, bars, pipes) to verify that they meet customer specifications and industry standards. Visual Inspections: Examine the appearance, dimensions, and surface finish of steel products using visual methods and measuring tools. Measurement and Testing: Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and test equipment (e.g., hardness testers, metallography) to verify dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and chemical composition. Defect Identification and Reporting: Identify and document any deviations, defects, or non-conformities in materials or products. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inspection results, test data, and non-conformity reports. Collaboration and Problem Solving: Communicate inspection findings to production teams, assist in identifying root causes of quality issues, and collaborate on implementing corrective actions. Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of quality control processes and procedures. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all inspections and testing activities comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO), company procedures, and regulatory requirements. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization. Required Skills and Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent: Most entry-level QC inspector positions require at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of Steel Processing: Understanding of various steel production processes and their impact on quality. Familiarity with ASTM and ISO Standards: Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations. Proficiency in Measuring and Testing Equipment: Ability to operate and maintain precision measuring instruments and test equipment. Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and solve problems related to quality. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with production teams, management, and other stakeholders. Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on details and accurately perform inspections and measurements. Optional Skills: Certifications: Certifications in Quality Control (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector) can enhance a candidate's qualifications
