About the Role

remote Billing & Accounts Officer


In this role, you'll split your time between UAE billing operations (3 hours daily) and Canadian finance support (5 hours daily), handling everything from customer invoicing and collections to technical billing audits and vendor coordination. You'll work with the same platforms and systems across both regions, ensuring consistency while gaining exposure to diverse customer bases including government entities, Fortune 500 companies, and international markets.


This position is strategically designed to support our UAE expansion while leveraging our established Canadian operations team. Since our Dubai office currently has limited finance operations, you'll provide essential on-ground MENA support while connecting with our global finance team in Canada. The role offers significant professional growth through exposure to complex billing scenarios, high-volume data management, and international business operations that will accelerate your finance career.


Our IDEAL CANDIDATE


Your performance will be measured by AR ticket resolution speed, on-time recurring invoice processing, receivables maintained under 45 days, and timely completion of monthly closures and weekly bank reconciliations.


You'll be part of the Finance & Strategy tribe, in the Finance Operations & Bookkeeping pod. You'll collaborate with the UAE Operations team. This position reports directly to both the Finance Manager & Project Manager (UAE) and Billing Manager (Canada).


You'll be doing things like:


UAE Entity (3 hours daily):

  • Billing & Collections:

    Issue invoices in Zoho Books; follow up on overdue accounts via email and phone; collect payments and update records; verify subscription billing accuracy
  • Financial Operations:

    Complete weekly bank reconciliations; verify vendor bills for compliance; handle VAT calculations and returns; coordinate account transfers between entities during restructuring
  • Operations Support:

    Track installer jobs and mileage; create purchase orders; process hardware paperwork; follow up with vendors on orders; support inventory management and logistics coordination


Canadian Entities (5 hours daily):

  • Billing Systems & Audits:

    Conduct technical audits of subscription billing systems; verify recurring customer profiles before automated invoicing; review high-volume invoice accuracy for 10,000+ customer records; ensure compliance with North American billing standards
  • Customer Service & Collections:

    Handle AR follow-ups for US, Canadian, and government accounts; resolve billing inquiries professionally; manage disputes and escalations; maintain customer relationships
  • Process & Development:

    Process hardware invoices; support billing team projects; contribute to process improvements; handle assigned billing department tasks; gain exposure to complex billing scenarios that accelerate professional growth


Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of prior experience in roles like Billing Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, Finance Associate, Accounts Payable Specialist, or related.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency with large datasets (10,000+ rows)
  • Strong understanding of bank reconciliation and vendor invoice verification
  • Experience with recurring billing systems and subscription-based models
  • Excellent English communication skills for phone calls and customer interactions
  • Strong customer service skills with empathy for challenging situations
  • Self-starter mentality with ability to take ownership and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail across multiple entities and time zones
  • Technology proficient with ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-border teams


Bonus if you also have:

  • Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and international billing practices
  • B2B SaaS, telematics, fleet management, or IoT platform experience
  • Bilingual capabilities in Arabic-English or knowledge of Hindi/Urdu
  • Experience with hardware invoicing and logistics/inventory management
  • Knowledge of BI analytical tools (Power BI, Looker Studio)
  • Experience with AI tools for finance automation
  • Familiarity with our tools: Zoho One (Zoho CRM, Books, Expense, Inventory), custom portals


Position Details

  • Working Hours:

    Fixed - 2PM-11PM UAE time with 1-hour break (9-hour shift)
  • Full-time vs Part-time:

    Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (ACCA certification is a plus)
  • Level:

    Intermediate (3-5 years of relevant work experience)
  • Compensation:

    ~CAD $941–1,000 (INR 60K–64K)/month, based on experience and region. Sctured as a Consultant Agreement (independent contractor), meaning you'll be responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and insurance.
