Job Description – [Role Title, e.g., HSE & Operations Manager]Position SummaryThe [Role Title] will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Environment, Health, Operations, Administration, Project Management, and Coordination. The role involves driving compliance, improving systems and processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities1. SafetyDevelop and implement HIRAC, JSA, PSM, Emergency Preparedness Plans, and Training Documents.
Establish and monitor SOPs/Task Lists for safe operation and maintenance.
Lead safety drives: Near Miss reporting, Unsafe Act/Condition reporting, Toolbox Talks, PTW, LOTO, Mock Drills, Tabletop Exercises, and 5S initiatives.
Deliver basic and refresher safety training (BBS, awareness sessions, etc.).
Manage internal, external, and legal safety audits.
Conduct incident analysis and develop actionable improvement plans.
Organize team engagement activities: Safety Week, competitions, celebrations, etc.
Drive creative safety momentum (One Day Safety Officer, Cross Audits, Rewards & Recognition, etc.).
Implement engineering safety controls (Poka-Yoke, modifications, upgrades).
Review safety performance with stakeholders and monitor safety costs.
2. EnvironmentEnsure engineering controls for environmental safety (equipment/system upgrades).
Monitor environmental performance parameters within acceptable norms.
Oversee upkeep of environmental equipment and systems through housekeeping, inspection, and maintenance.
Conduct environmental awareness sessions and training for stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all environmental legal requirements.
3. HealthMonitor and manage employee health programs (engineers & associates).
4. OperationsPlan and execute shutdowns effectively and safely.
5. AdministrationMaintain documentation: Logbooks, MIS, safety, environment, health, training, and material management.
Drive team building & talent development, including structured technical training programs (3, 8, 30 days).
Develop and implement refresher training and multiskilling programs.
Participate actively in Business Excellence initiatives (QC Projects, Six Sigma, FMEA, Lean CTR, 5S).
Provide troubleshooting, planning, and analysis support.
Coach, mentor, and build strong teams, focusing on leadership, soft skills, and accountability.
Manage employee engagement: festivals, functions, sports, and cultural activities.
Conduct performance evaluations and feedback.
Drive adoption of digital tools: SAP PM, MS Office, Microsoft Project, Cloud Systems.
Oversee materials & contract management, cost monitoring, and adherence.
Manage various audits (ISO, Safety, Quality, TS, Customer).
Enhance organizational branding, values, ethics, and policies.
6. Project ManagementIdentify and prioritize projects through visionary planning.
Lead internal project execution: PRs, SPRs, technical discussions, ordering, fabrication, erection, trials, and handover.
Coordinate with project teams for outsourced/large-scale execution.
7. CoordinationCollaborate with cross-functional teams: DCM, QA/QC, R&D, Purchase, Contracts, Stores, Central Services, Auditors, and Parent Company teams.
Support production & grade planning, consumables/spares purchase, service contracts, quality improvements, new grade development, and by-product management.
Coordinate ISO audits, costing, taxation, finance, and stakeholder communications.
Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Safety, Environment, or related field.
Certifications in HSE, Six Sigma, or Project Management preferred.
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in Safety, Operations, or Plant Management.
Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
