Your impactThe incumbent will be responsible for controlling the project costs; This includes planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the project’s budget and schedule. He / She will aim to minimize the deviation from the budget/ Schedule and ensure that the project is completed within the approved budget and timeline. Primary location will be in any of the Jacobs offices (Gurgaon, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Pune) in India
- Familiarization with the process of project control procedures
- Understanding Contract vis-à-vis project scope of work
- Developing Cost WBS structure and control budget for the project based on the approved estimate.
- Proactively monitor and communicate budget, actual status, and forecast costs/labor hours for projects monthly.
- Consolidate performance data to support performance measurement, data analysis, and cost forecasting.
- Assist in the development of project work plans and schedules.
- Create client and internal status reports that effectively communicate schedule status and identify critical path.
- Provide technical guidance to other project controls staff in project financial status
- Ensuring all financials are in order, preparing spreadsheets and a wide variety of routine cost analyses, cash flow, and other cost related evaluations
- Set-up, monitor & report earned value progress measurement systems for projects, including analysis based on input from project leads
- Identify business acumen by identifying for us potential project problems early, report issues and problems to operations leadership, and work with project teams to address and implement recovery plans.
- Review of expenditure details, identifying incorrect charges, and commencement of the charge correction process will ensure our financials are accurate. To review, process, and track sub consultant invoices on various projects.
- Prepare and update project schedules and cost/resource loading them.
- Identify and drive optimizations in planning and execution of projects
- Advise Project Controls Lead and Project Leadership Team of any potential schedule issues and when necessary, provide guidance on corrective action and measures to mitigate any adverse trends.
- Develop and review schedule corrective actions and recovery plans and verify needed actions plans are implemented.
- Review project changes to evaluate detail schedule impact; responsible for quantifying and incorporating the effect and impact of approved changes in the overall schedule stewardship and reporting.
- Monitor and report on schedule implications of changes
- Support project team with ongoing project progress measurement and schedule analysis, reporting, and forecasting activities.
- Develop change management and maintaining change log.
- Support in monitoring of cost developments of engineering/vendors/contractors and develop the cost reports.
- Look for ways to reduce project costs and for ways to improve our work processes.
- Perform price estimation and price budgeting from contract commitment to fit the baseline program
- Provide planning / scheduling, and cost controlling mechanism for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes, etc.
- Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of the project.
- Perform project costing related reporting to the team and management’s review monthly to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
- Performing and/or managing the analysis of cost and risks for projects with a focus on support of project management.
- Accountable for investment of project cost, and schedule and reports to the Project Manager of one or more projects during the planning and execution phase.
Here's what you'll need
- Qualifications
- Graduate / Advanced degree in Engineering or other technical disciplines
- Experience in the infrastructure sector or in construction industry is highly preferable, with exposure in site engineering, project management, project planning, project costing, project scheduling, coordination, procurement and construction workflows.
- Knowledge in cost control tools and technics to drive /contribute project financial health, knowledge in Estimation, Project / Cost Controlling, Project Tracking, Project Scheduling
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of interdependency of underlying cost and schedule drivers.
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of the entire system of the business, relationship between productivity vs profitability
- Minimum Work Experience required
- Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience (PQE) in project control / planning or relevant sectors
- Soft skills
- Good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with project stakeholders and proficient to work in any project environment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to follow company procedures and work independently without guidance
- Proactive and analytic, becoming an integrated part of the team, despite remote engagement
- Key Relationship and Reporting
- The incumbent will have relationships with one or more of the following
- Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Manager of Projects
- Project Controllers, Planning Leads, Project Accountants, Commercial Analysts, Procurement
- Software skills
- Mastery in MS Excel and strong skillset in other MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in any other cost control tool
- Knowledge in Planning software like MSP / Primavera, Power BI / Data Visualization software will provide an advantage
