Manager - Production & Maintenance
Your Main Responsibilities
Objectives of the function
- To lead and manage all aspects of production activities in the sheet metal operations.
- Responsible for ensuring high-quality output.
- Responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of sheet metal production shop
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet delivery timelines.
- Optimize resource utilization (manpower, machines, materials).
- Manage and mentor production supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
- Participate in capacity planning, capex budgeting, and technology upgrades.
- Support new product introductions and process validations.
- Monitor KPIs – Productivity, Sheet metal utilization, cost out initiatives, Machine utilization, PPM
- Reduce Operating cost and Work on cost saving projects throughout the department.
- Compliance of safety objectives while supervising manufacturing processes
- Maintain Disciplined in Unionized manpower and maintain open lines of communication.

- Review of line wise losses and action plan to reduce the losses on the lines
- Positive collaboration with cross functional team for production activities and complete the

- Participate in MOST review, Time study and line balancing activity in department.

- Drive Continuous improvement (KAIZEN) culture by collaborating with Supervisors on each

Can approve or halt production based on quality issues; initiate corrective actionsDecides on machine usage, manpower deployment, and shift planning.Can prioritize urgent repairs and authorize external technical support. What You Bring
Education
- Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or
- BE in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
Professional Skills
- Deep understanding of processes like laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, riveting, and assembly.
- Familiarity with CNC machines, press brakes, turret punches, MIG/TIG welding stations, and robotic automation.
- Ability to develop and manage production schedules, optimize takt time, and balance workloads.
- Proficient in ISO 9001, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, etc.).
- Strong grasp of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), predictive maintenance, and equipment reliability metrics.
- Experience with manufacturing software for tracking production, inventory, and performance SAP etc.
- Capable of leading cross-functional teams, setting goals, and driving accountability.
- Skilled in handling shop-floor disputes and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Identifies opportunities for cost reduction in materials, labor, and energy usage.
- Prepares dashboards, production reports, and presentations for senior leadership.
Professional Experience
- Directed daily operations across laser cutting, CNC punching, bending, welding, and assembly lines.
- Collaborated with design and engineering teams for manufacturability reviews and new product introductions.
- Oversaw safety audits, ISO 9001 compliance, and environmental standards (ISO 14001).
- Conducted root cause analysis for quality issues and led cross-functional corrective action teams.
- Candidate should have good presentation and communication skills.
- Good experience to deal with Union manpower and conflict management skills
- Time management & skills to execute the task on time are essential.
- Ability for team building and lead the team of 40 to 50 Manpower both permanent and contract.employees.
- Analytical thinking through data analysis and problem-solving skills.
