Manager - Production & Maintenance

As a Manager - Production & Maintenance at Schindler India, you will play a significant role in leading and managing all aspects of production activities in the sheet metal operations. Your main responsibilities include: - Overseeing daily operations of the sheet metal production shop - Developing and implementing production schedules to meet delivery timelines - Optimizing resource utilization including manpower, machines, and materials - Managing and mentoring production supervisors, engineers, and technicians - Participating in capacity planning, capex budgeting, and technology upgrades - Supporting new product introductions and process validations - Monitoring key performance indicators such as productivity, sheet metal utilization, cost out initiatives, and machine utilization - Reducing operating costs and working on cost-saving projects throughout the department - Ensuring compliance with safety objectives while supervising manufacturing processes - Maintaining discipline in unionized manpower and fostering open lines of communication - Reviewing line-wise losses and implementing action plans to reduce losses - Collaborating positively with cross-functional teams for production activities - Participating in MOST reviews, time studies, and line balancing activities - Sustaining production processes as per QMS system or organizational norms - Driving a culture of continuous improvement (KAIZEN) by collaborating with supervisors - Monitoring employee skills and bridging skill gaps identified through skill matrix - Participating in external competitions like QCFI, CII, and representing the department - Energy management system awareness, monitoring, and compliance Authorities you will have: - Implementing lean practices, eliminating bottlenecks, and improving cycle times - Approving or halting production based on quality issues and initiating corrective actions - Deciding on machine usage, manpower deployment, and shift planning - Prioritizing urgent repairs and authorizing external technical support - Participating in recruitment and approving skill development plans - Conducting appraisals, setting KPIs, and enforcing discipline - Managing operational budgets and cost-saving initiatives - Approving leave for reportees - Stopping operations if safety standards are compromised Qualifications required: - Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or BE in Mechanical/Production Engineering - Deep understanding of processes like laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, riveting, and assembly - Familiarity with CNC machines, press brakes, turret punches, MIG/TIG welding stations, and robotic automation - Proficiency in ISO 9001, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis - Strong grasp of TPM, predictive maintenance, and equipment reliability metrics - Experience with manufacturing software such as SAP - Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive accountability - Skills in handling shop-floor disputes and fostering a collaborative work environment Join Schindler India to be part of a purpose-driven organization that values your development and promotes a diverse and supportive culture.
