Position Details
Position SummaryDesign Manager responsible for leading engineering for integration design documentation for product lines (Plunger Pumps,Metering Pumps, and Custom Pump Packages). The role is both hands-on and strategic — the manager will independentlycreate structured documentation from existing tribal knowledge, drive process implementation, and build the foundationfor a self-sufficient design team aligned with CIRCOR’s engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Integration & Documentation:
- Lead the knowledge capture and documentation of legacy design practices, calculations, and engineering
processes from existing experts.
- Develop and standardize SOPs, design checklists, and calculation sheets for all product lines (Plunger & Metering
pumps).
- Document design logic, drawing standards, and BOM practices to ensure complete transparency and traceability.
- Establish structured revision control, digital drawing management, and engineering document archiving.
Engineering Execution & Ownership
- Drive end-to-end engineering execution for assigned product lines — from order handover to final drawing/BOM
release.
- Ensure targeted on-time delivery and FTR (First Time Right) quality for all engineering deliverables.
- Validate BOMs against actual assemblies; ensure no undocumented or hidden components/processes.
- Support production, procurement, and testing teams for technical clarifications and NCR/ECR closure.
Process Implementation & Governance
- Introduce disciplined engineering processes and ensure consistent adherence by the team.
- Audit ongoing projects to verify compliance to documentation, drawing, and BOM standards.
- Identify and eliminate redundant or manual steps; initiate digitization of key calculations and workflows.
- Enforce traceability through structured change management (ECR/ECN process).
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Act as both Doer and Leader — personally drive documentation and guide others by example.
- Mentor engineers to build technical depth, process discipline, and design ownership.
- Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare succession pipeline and future structure for the Engineering function.
Cross-functional & Strategic Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, SCM, and Quality for order inputs, feasibility, and design
optimization.
- Participate in product cost reduction, standardization, and VAVE initiatives.
- Contribute to long-term engineering capability roadmap and digitization initiatives.
Category Requirement
Technical Expertise: -
- Sound knowledge of Pump Engineering (Nice to have: Knowledge of Plunger and Metering Pumps, Understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and sealing design. Familiar with ASME, ASTM, API 675/676 standards.)
Process & Documentation
- Skilled in documenting processes, preparing SOPs, calculation sheets, and knowledge manuals.
- Ability to identify tribal knowledge and convert it into structured, auditable documents.
Leadership &Communication
- Strong leadership presence, clear communicator, capable of working independently and leading
by example.
Software Tools
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Edge. Experience in ERP/PLM tools (SAP, ECTR, or equivalent).

- Capable of performing mechanical design calculations, reviewing designs, and validating
results.

Education & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- 10–15 years of experience in pumps or rotating equipment.
- Experience with Plunger & Metering pump and system packaging preferred.
- Exposure to fabrication, casting, machining drawings, and order-based customization.
