Role & responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers through coaching, feedback, and career progression.
  
• Drive a positive team culture centered on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management for backend engineering roles.
  

Technical Execution

• Provide technical direction, guiding design and implementation of backend systems and APIs.
  
• Review designs, architecture documents, and code to ensure quality, performance, and maintainability.
  
• Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to align on long-term technical decisions and platform evolution.
  

Delivery & Execution Excellence

• Own team planning, sprint execution, and project delivery in partnership with Product and cross-functional teams.
  
• Ensure reliable delivery of backend features, services, and platform improvements.
  
• Drive engineering best practices including testing, observability, CI/CD, and documentation.
  

Operational Excellence

• Ensure the team delivers highly available, performant, and secure backend services.
  
• Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
  
• Balance technical debt reduction with new feature development.
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product, QA, Security, Data, and DevOps teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
  
• Provide clear communication on status, risks, and technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
  

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with backend languages such as Go, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar.
  
• Proven experience building and maintaining scalable distributed systems, APIs, and services.
  
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
