The Business Head/ NSM - Sales will lead the entire sales function at the company level, overseeing strategy formulation, business development, sales operations, and revenue delivery. This is a critical leadership role that demands a balance of strategic foresight, people management, and hands-on execution. The role will involve close collaboration with Product, Credit, Risk, Collections, and Operations teams to ensure business growth while maintaining portfolio quality and regulatory compliance.
Strategic Leadership
The core responsibilities for the job include the following:
- Formulate and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for all products.
- Design and implement annual and quarterly business plans with clear targets, budgets, and timelines.
- Drive geographical expansion, exploring new markets and strengthening presence in existing ones.
- Conduct regular market analysis to identify new business opportunities and assess competitor activities.
Business Growth And Revenue Delivery
- Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across all product lines.
- Develop cross-sell and up-sell strategies to increase wallet share from existing customers.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry networks.
- Drive customer acquisition and retention strategies to expand the client base.
Team Leadership And Development
- Lead a multi-layered sales team (Zonal Heads, Regional Managers, Cluster Heads, Branch Managers, and Sales Executives).
- Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear KPIs and monitoring progress regularly.
- Mentor and develop leadership talent within the sales team to build a robust succession pipeline.
- Implement effective training programs to enhance product knowledge and sales capabilities.
Operational And Process Excellence
- Oversee sales processes to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance with company policies and NBFC regulations.
- Collaborate with Credit and Risk teams for credit policy alignment and quality portfolio growth.
- Work closely with Collections to ensure healthy repayment behaviour and minimal NPAs.
- Utilize data analytics and MIS reports to monitor performance and make informed decisions.
Compliance, Governance, And Risk Management
- Ensure all sales activities adhere to RBI guidelines and internal compliance requirements.
- Establish robust controls to prevent mis-selling and unethical practices.
- Lead periodic audits and ensure timely closure of compliance observations.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key liaison between the sales function and senior management.
- Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and partner events
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, partners, and major clients.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of sales targets across product lines and geographies.
- Market share growth in key regions.
- Portfolio quality (low delinquency rates, NPAs within set thresholds).
- Employee engagement scores within the sales function.
- On-time launch of new products and sales campaigns.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of experience in senior sales leadership roles within NBFCs or financial services.
- Proven success in managing multiple lending products, including secured loans and business loans.
- Track record of scaling sales teams and delivering revenue growth in competitive markets.
- Strong understanding of NBFC operations, credit appraisal, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience in pan-India sales leadership will be preferred.
