About the Company

Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.


Role Overview

The incumbent will lead Invest India’s procurement function, ensuring compliance with government procurement guidelines and driving efficiency, transparency, and innovation across sourcing, vendor management, and supply chain processes. The role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in handling large-scale procurement operations, particularly within the Government ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities


Procurement & Strategy

  • Develop, deliver, and manage procurement strategies that support organizational goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with Invest India and Government procurement guidelines, including complete utilization of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Portal.
  • Drive centralization of procurement activities and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, transparency, and value for money.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage supplier arrangements for cost reduction and improved service delivery.
  • Ensure robust, transparent, and fair evaluation processes for tenders as per best practice standards.
  • Prepare and present procurement approval notes and related documentation for senior leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with legal, finance, operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure integrated procurement solutions.
  • Engage stakeholders in tender development and ensure timely tender releases.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and enforce performance standards.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on procurement strategy and processes to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Reports & Analytics

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of procurement data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly procurement reports for leadership review.

Processes, Compliance & Audit

  • Maintain and update procurement policies, SOPs, and templates in line with statutory and audit requirements.
  • Ensure contracts are signed before commencement of work and renewed prior to expiry.
  • Manage vendor contracts, service levels, and compliance requirements, including enforcement of penalties/incentives where required.
  • Oversee supply chain management including shipment, logistics, and inventory control.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ progressive experience in procurement, vendor management, contract management, or supply chain.
  • Proven expertise in handling tenders and contracts within the Government ecosystem, including significant experience on the GeM Portal.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with Indian public procurement processes, compliance frameworks, and audit standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills.
