What You'll DoAvalara is looking for a Manager to lead a team of pricing analyst and strategists. You will play an important leadership role in scaling pricing as a shared service across the organization. You will manage the team, reviewing all pricing deliverables and recommendations and leading proposals around pricing initiatives to executive leadership.In addition to guiding this team, you will also lead cross-functional pricing projects, foster relationships with stakeholders across Product, Sales, Finance, and Marketing, and help drive strategic pricing decisions that maximize revenue, enhance customer value, and align with Avalara's growth goals. What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Ensure quality, consistency, and strategic alignment of all pricing deliverables produced by the team.
- Lead the intake process and shared service line for pricing and pricing related requests.
- Lead cross-functional pricing initiatives from ideation to implementation, including modeling, stakeholder alignment, and go-to-market coordination.
- Partner with Sales, Product, Finance, and Marketing to align pricing strategies with our goals and customer needs.
- You will design and implement scalable pricing processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms to support data-driven decision-making.
- You will align resources, set timelines and drive cadences to deliver outcomes for the Pricing organization.
- Communicate key pricing insights, and outcomes to executive stakeholders. Influence pricing decisions by using data and logic.
- You will contribute to continuous improvement efforts in pricing methodology, including experimentation, segmentation, and automation.
- Manage & develop the pricing analyst team; provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
- Prioritize workstreams based on urgency, value, and team capacity.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 1–2 years in a people management role.
- Analytical and modeling skills with intermediate proficiency in excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and SQL (Snowflake preferred).
- Experience managing or contributing to pricing initiatives in SaaS, technology, or product-based businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable conveying technical and strategic ideas to non-technical audiences..
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or CPQ platforms.
- Experience using JIRA as a project management/tracking tool.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like PowerBI.
- Prior experience building shared service functions or centralized pricing teams.
- Exposure to global pricing strategy or working with geographically distributed teams.
