Purpose of this positionProactively support SVP BD with identification, validation and development of the overall value proposition for specific business development initiatives, or investments, business reviews in the context of DP World’s strategy in both Europe and globally.Key objectives
- Support overall ports and logistics DP World strategy development in Europe in line with the global strategy and growth ambitions
- Help maintain a viable pipeline of new business development opportunities by often finding ways to smartly screen opportunities
- Lead specific business development initiatives especially by preparing robust and defensible business plans and articulating the proposition in high quality presentations
- Drive and support due diligence as appropriate for logistics transactions
- Ensure business development activities are aligned with global and regional strategy
Key responsibilities
Business Development
- Produce, to a high standard, financial and strategic analyses and recommendation for Senior Management regarding investment and strategic decisions;
- Lead internal and external resources in identifying, developing, and executing new and existing investment projects in Europe of all sizes;
- Critically challenge assumptions and status quo, analyze information in detail, identify and assess key value, and recommending an investment plan or transaction structure;
- Maintain at all times, appropriate communication and alignment between relevant business units and functions in the region and at head office, ensuring full alignment with group processes and policies
- Maintain a viable business development pipeline by smartly screening and evaluating opportunities;
- Protect employee and employers interests to the highest possible standard and in line with legal and governance requirements;
- Liaise externally with all interested parties; government, statutory, regulatory bodies, funders and local stakeholders with a view to representing and protecting the company’s best interests and assets;
- Build and maintain high quality external community and industry relations;
Commercial
- Understand volume, pricing trends and market intelligence with a view to leveraging opportunities and competitive advantage;
- Manage contractual relations with service providers (e.g., consultants) to guarantee cost effectiveness for both parties;
Investment reviews and business performance benchmarkings
- Strong understanding of the post investment review analysis and ability to quickly develop baselines for different investments
- Familiarity with business performance in the context of portfolio management benchmarking
- Ability to develop models for various types of businesses for ease of comparisons and for management summaries
Other
- Contribute to continuous business improvement process and to meeting of business objectives;
- To be an ambassador for the company at all times internally and externally;
- Comply with Fatal Risk Standards, Health & Safety Policy and safe working practices, ensure responsibility for safety and discipline in work area and report accidents and ‘near misses’ in accordance with defined safety procedures;

Qualifications
Capabilities
- Given the extent of analysis required and expectation to interact with senior counterparties, individual should be educated to degree level, preferably in numerate area, such as Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Accounting, etc.;
- Industry experience in Ports and/or Logistics (min 7-10 years) at analyst/manager level, preferably also having experience working in/with M&A, experience with infrastructure also beneficial;
- Investment Banking or legal background useful;
- Consulting experience/background beneficial;
- Fluent in oral and written English essential, with additional European languages as an additional benefit;

- Strong project management skills for developing and executing plans to support internal approvals for strategic investments and in line with external timelines and expectations (for tenders, agents, authorities or other partners)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and an ability to use it to prepare complex financial models to support valuations and external financing plans
- Ability to prepare concise and articulate presentations to facilitate discussions amongst key internal stakeholders and decision makers

Experience
- Knowledge and experience of the ports and logistics sector
- Strong numeracy, financial analysis and strategic planning background
- 5 or more years’ experience in a financial analyst / associate role at an investment bank; accounting firm; top tier consultancy; Logistics M&A
- Demonstrable experience of a full project management lifecycle, with solid understanding of developing a large project successfully from a Brownfield or Greenfield site e.g. Engineering, Commercial, Environment, HR, Health and Safety, Communications, IT;
- Advanced “authority by influence” skills in obtaining buy-in and leading key stakeholders, for a large project e.g. government and its relevant departments, local councils, banks, local residents, customers etc;
- Demonstrable experience of managing others efficiently and effectively, especially through indirect reporting structures, to meet project and business targets;
- Evidence of leading and driving innovation and enterprise with project management experience;
- Good business acumen with a true understanding of economics;
- Experience leveraging problem solving skills in dynamic and complex working engagements;
