Key Responsibilities:

As Finance and Compliance Officer, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the financial strategy, ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and operational efficiency to support Nayanta University’s mission.


Financial Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of long-term financial strategies aligned with Nayanta’s mission and growth plans.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for the University and Nayanta Education Foundation.
  • Develop investment and fund utilisation strategies to optimise resources and manage institutional risk effectively.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and donor requirements, including Income Tax, FCRA, CSR regulations, GST, and university-specific compliance.
  • Liaise with the Board of Trustees and statutory bodies to ensure transparency and accountability in financial governance
  • Lead internal, statutory, and donor audits and implement audit recommendations.

Operations and Systems

  • Establish robust financial systems, controls, and processes to support transparent reporting and effective resource utilisation.
  • Oversee payroll, vendor management, and expense control in collaboration with HR and operations teams.
  • Implement financial management systems to support program delivery and operational efficiency.

Donor and Grant Management

  • Support donor engagement and fundraising efforts by providing financial insights for proposals and ensuring accurate grant utilisation reporting.
  • Manage tracking and reporting for grants, donations, endowments, and CSR partnerships.

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and compliance team, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership and department heads to support Informed decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Postgraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field (e.g. CA, MBA – Finance, M.Com).


Experience:

  • 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, with in-depth knowledge of Indian regulatory frameworks (FCRA, CSR, Income Tax, GST)and sectoral nuances.
  • Sector Preference: Experience in higher education or the non-profit sector preferred; Experience in institutional start-up environments will be an added advantage.
  • Proven track record of strategic financial leadership, system building, and audit handling.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence at the leadership and board levels.
  • Demonstrated ethical integrity, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Compensation will be competitive and aligned with industry and sectoral benchmarks, based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
