Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Merchandiser located in Ahmedabad. The Senior Merchandiser will oversee product planning, develop merchandising strategies, manage vendor relationships, and analyze sales data to drive business performance. Responsibilities include ensuring excellent customer service, collaborating with marketing and sales teams, monitoring inventory levels, and identifying trends to optimize product offerings and profitability. The ideal candidate will act as a key link between the business and clients, ensuring alignment with overall sales and marketing strategies.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities1. Design Translation & FeasibilityInterpret design briefs, tech packs, and mood boards into production-ready specificationsChallenge designs on constructability, fabric suitability, costing impact, and lead timesEnsure designs are aligned with brand positioning (women’s formal / premium workwear)2. Sampling & Development ControlManage end-to-end sampling lifecycle (proto → fit → size set → PP sample)Coordinate with designers, sample masters, and factories for corrections & approvalsTrack sample turnaround time, rejection rate, and rework causes3. Fabric & Trim CoordinationLiaise with fabric mills, traders, and trim suppliersEnsure fabric quality, shade consistency, shrinkage, GSM, and wash performanceApprove lab dips, strike-offs, and trims before bulk commitment4. Production Planning & ExecutionFinalize order quantities, style-wise production plans, and factory allocationMonitor cutting, stitching, finishing, and dispatch schedulesResolve production bottlenecks proactively (fabric delay, manpower issues, rework)5. Costing & Margin DisciplinePrepare style-wise cost sheets (fabric, trims, CM, wash, overheads)Negotiate with factories/vendors to meet target cost and marginControl cost creep during sampling & design changes6. Quality & Compliance InterfaceEnsure adherence to quality standards, fit consistency, and workmanshipCoordinate inline & final quality checksFlag risks early to avoid bulk rejections7.
