Srichakra Polyplast is a well established organisation operating in Plastic Recycling and committed to quality, cost-efficiency, timely delivery and strong vendor relationships. We are currently seeking an experienced, strategic and highly capable Purchase Manager to lead and optimise our procurement operations.

Role Summary

The Purchase Manager will be responsible for overseeing end to end procurement and purchasing operations for Srichakra Polyplast Unit 3. With 20 –25 years of experience, the candidate will have strong domain knowledge, strategic vision, supplier network, and leadership capability to manage procurement at scale to ensuring optimal cost, quality, timely delivery, compliance, and vendor relationships. The Manager will collaborate with senior leadership to align purchasing strategy with company goals, and will lead a team of purchase staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement & Sourcing: Develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with company objectives covering materials, goods, services required by the company.
  • Supplier / Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate and onboard reliable suppliers/vendors. Maintain and manage strong long-term relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service level agreements.
  • Cost Control & Budget Management: Analyse market trends, negotiate competitive pricing, and implement cost-saving measures. Monitor procurement budgets, track expenditures, and ensure purchases are within budget and aligned to financial targets.
  • Procurement Operations & Purchase Order Management: Issue purchase orders, track and follow-up on delivery scheduling, coordinate with internal departments (production, stores, accounts etc.) to ensure timely and quality procurement. Manage documentation POs, delivery notes, invoices, supplier records, vendor databases.
  • Inventory & Materials Planning / Control: Forecast requirements, coordinate with inventory/warehouse/operations to maintain optimal stock levels, avoid overstock or shortages, and manage lead-times.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure procured items meet required quality standards and company specifications. Enforce procurement policies, compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Risk Management & Supplier Performance Monitoring: Evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery punctuality, reliability), identify and mitigate procurement risks, adapt procurement strategies based on market conditions and supply-chain disruptions.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead, mentor and manage purchasing / procurement team (buyers, procurement officers, purchase staff). Set KPIs/goals, review performance, ensure adherence to company purchasing policies and best practices.
  • Coordination with Other Departments: Work closely with operations, production, warehouse, accounts, finance and senior management to align procurement with business requirements, budgets, forecasts, and project timelines.
  • Continuous Improvement & Procurement Strategy Evolution: Review existing purchasing processes and policies; propose improvements (e.g. strategic sourcing, vendor rationalization, consolidated purchasing, better vendor evaluation framework) to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness and supply chain robustness.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Extensive Experience: 20–25 years of overall work experience, with substantial time spent in procurement / purchasing management in similar industry or related fields.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain / Logistics, Commerce, or related field). Advanced degree or relevant procurement/supply-chain certifications (if any) will be an advantage.
  • Strong Procurement & Supply-Chain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of supply-chain dynamics, market sourcing, vendor evaluation, inventory control, materials planning.
  • Excellent Negotiation & Communication Skills: Proven capability in negotiating with vendors/suppliers, handling contracts, terms & conditions; good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written), ability to coordinate across departments.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Experience in leading, mentoring, and managing procurement / purchase teams; ability to set direction, supervise staff and ensure accountability.
  • Analytical & Decision-making Skills: Strong analytical mindset to evaluate sourcing options, perform cost-benefit analysis, supplier evaluation, demand forecasting, budget planning and risk assessments.
  • Operational & Software Skills: Proficiency in procurement / purchase order software, SAP added advantage; comfortable with MS Office (Excel, Word) and documentation/record-keeping.
  • Integrity, Ethics & Compliance Orientation: Strong sense of professional ethics, transparency in procurement, adherence to company policies and quality standards.

Desired Profile (Given Seniority: 20–25 Years)

Because this is a senior-level role, preferred candidate should have:

  • Demonstrated track record of managing procurement for large-scale operations multi-category procurement (raw materials, equipment, services), dealing with multiple suppliers/vendors.
  • Ability to foresee and manage supply-chain risks, handle vendor diversification, and ensure continuity of supply under varying market conditions.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills capable of building and grooming a procurement & purchase team, and institutionalising procurement processes.
  • Strategic orientation align procurement strategies with business growth, cost optimisation, quality control and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Adaptability and knowledge of contemporary procurement best practices, possibly including digital procurement tools, supplier audits, compliance, vendor rating systems.
  • Good negotiation skills and a wide network of suppliers/vendor contacts relevant to the industry.

Reporting & Work Relationships

  • The Purchase Manager will report to the Senior Management / Management Head (or as defined by the company).
  • They will coordinate with departments such as Operations / Production, Warehouse / Inventory, Accounts & Finance, Quality Control, and Senior Leadership for planning, budgeting and supply-chain alignment.
  • The role may involve periodic visits to vendor premises / supplier locations for audits, vendor assessments, contract negotiations, or quality checks (depending on business need).
