Job Description

1. Position Overview : The Purchase Manager will oversee all procurement activities including vendor development, sourcing, negotiations, cost control, and inventory alignment. The role demands strong knowledge of industrial components, engineering materials, and supplier management. The goal is to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement to support production, projects, and service operations. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Procurement & Sourcing Manage end-to-end purchase process for raw materials, gearboxes, motors, consumables, and services. Source and evaluate new suppliers for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fabrication items. Prepare RFQs, compare quotations, negotiate prices, delivery timelines, and payment terms. Ensure procurement of quality materials as per technical drawings/specifications. B. Vendor Management Develop, evaluate, and maintain a strong vendor base (local & national). Conduct vendor audits for capability, quality, lead time, and pricing stability. Maintain supplier database, performance metrics, and yearly rate agreements. C. Coordination with Internal Departments Work closely with Production, Design, Stores, Quality, and Project teams. Understand Bill of Materials (BOM), project timelines, and production schedules. Ensure timely PO release and follow-up for deliveries to avoid production delays. D. Inventory & Cost Control Monitor stock levels and coordinate with Stores for inventory requirements. Implement cost reduction strategies through alternate sourcing, bulk buying, negotiations, and long-term contracts. Ensure compliance with minimum–maximum inventory levels. Handle slow-moving and non-moving inventory analysis. E. Documentation & Compliance Create purchase orders, maintain records, and ensure system-based approvals. Ensure procurement processes adhere to company SOPs. Coordinate with Accounts for GRN, invoice verification, and payment cycles. Maintain compliance with GST, vendor registrations, agreements, and certifications. F. Logistics & Delivery Follow-up Track material dispatches, logistics, freight, and delivery schedules. Handle transportation, packaging requirements, and vendor coordination. Resolve delays, shortages, or quality issues with suppliers. 3. Required Qualifications & Skills Education : Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) OR Graduate with strong experience in industrial procurement. Experience5–10 years of experience in purchase/supply chain within manufacturing, engineering, machinery, fabrication sectors. Experience managing procurement for custom-built machines or industrial equipment is an advantage. Technical Skills Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and BOM. Good knowledge of machining, fabrication, bought-out components, vacuum systems, pumps, valves, electrical panels, etc. Expertise in vendor negotiation, costing, and sourcing. Experience with ERP/Inventory or Purchase Management Systems. Soft Skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Strong follow-up and time-management skills. Integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Team player with problem-solving attitude.
