Project Head – Medium-Scale Projects (Commercial & Light Industrial)
Suitable for: Cooling plants, commercial buildings, warehouses, restaurants, showrooms, hospitals, mid-sized industrial units, etc.
Role Overview
- Lead and manage all medium-scale HVAC / air-cooling / ventilation projects with a team of project managers, engineers and site supervisors.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within approved budgets, and as per technical & quality standards.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning
- Review BOQs (bill of quantities), project drawings, tender documents and technical specifications.
- Create project schedules, manpower plans and material requirement forecasts.
- Assign project managers and technicians based on project priority and skill level.
Execution & Delivery
- Oversee installation of cooling systems, ducting, piping, ventilation systems, electrical connections and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate procurement and follow up on deliveries of materials, equipment and subcontractor services.
- Conduct periodic site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety and adherence to timelines.
Team Management
- Lead a team of project managers, supervisors, site engineers and technicians.
- Perform performance evaluations, assign responsibilities and conduct skill-training for project team members.
Client & Consultant Coordination
- Maintain smooth communication with clients, consultants and third-party agencies.
- Manage change orders, design clarifications, work approvals and client updates.
- Quickly resolve project-related escalations.
Cost Control & Quality
- Track budget utilization and ensure cost-effective execution.
- Maintain strict quality checks at each stage of installation.
- Monitor subcontractor efficiency and compliance with company standards.
Documentation & Handover
- Ensure proper documentation of drawings, approvals, inspections, test reports and completion certificates.
- Prepare final handover documents including commissioning reports, as-built drawings and warranty files.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HVAC & air-cooling equipment installation and commissioning.
- Leadership capabilities to manage multiple project managers.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Understanding of contracts, BOQs, material planning and vendor management.
- Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience & Qualification
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/HVAC Engineering.
- 5-7+ years experience in medium-scale HVAC/cooling projects.
- Experience managing project teams and multiple sites.

Project Head – Large-Scale Industrial Projects (Heavy-Duty Cooling Solutions)
Suitable for: Factories, manufacturing plants, large industrial cooling systems, process cooling, industrial ventilation, central cooling systems, high-capacity evaporative cooling plants, data centers, EPC-style projects.
Role Overview
- Lead and manage large-scale industrial projects with complex cooling systems, high tonnage, heavy-duty equipment and multidisciplinary work.
- Oversee a team of project managers, senior engineers, site teams, subcontractors and multiple vendors.
- Ensure end-to-end project delivery from design coordination to commissioning and final handover.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & High-Level Project Planning
- Review engineering designs, GA drawings, P&IDs, ducting/piping layouts, load calculations and technical documentation.
- Develop macro-level plans, milestones, resource allocation and budgets for large industrial projects.
- Coordinate with engineering/design teams for load, airflow, safety and performance calculations.
Execution Leadership
- Oversee large-scale system installations:
- Industrial evaporative cooling systems
- Heavy-duty ducting and piping works
- Industrial exhaust & ventilation systems
- Large pump sets, control panels, automation systems
- Ensure strict compliance with industrial standards, safety norms and statutory requirements.
Cross-Functional & Multi-Agency Coordination
- Coordinate with civil contractors, electrical contractors, MEP teams, OEM suppliers and specialized subcontractors.
- Conduct technical meetings with consultants, architects, corporate engineering teams and safety auditors.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate risks related to design, safety, budgets and timelines.
- Enforce high-level safety protocols including industrial HSE requirements and compliance audits.
- Conduct periodic QC checks and ensure all works meet specified standards.
Financial & Contractual Management
- Manage multi-crore project budgets, BOQs, cash flow, vendor payments and cost tracking.
- Review contracts, negotiate subcontractor agreements and manage change orders/claims.
Team Leadership
- Lead multiple project managers handling various zones/sites.
- Oversee senior site engineers, supervisors, QA/QC(quality assurance/quality control) teams and safety officers.
- Provide training, guidance and supervision for large project teams.
Client / Corporate Communication
- Handle high-level client discussions, progress reviews, and technical approvals.
- Present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Supervise large-scale testing, commissioning, validation and performance evaluation.
- Ensure final project handover with full documentation — performance reports, as-built drawings, O&M(operation maintenance) manuals, warranty papers.
Skills & Competencies Required
- Strong technical expertise in industrial cooling, ventilation and HVAC systems.
- Excellent leadership skills for managing multiple project managers and large teams.
- Advanced skills in planning, project scheduling, risk management and cost control.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Exposure to EPC(engineering,procurement and construction) style work environments is a major plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and client-handling abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/HVAC Engineering (mandatory).
- 5-7+ years of experience in large industrial cooling/HVAC/MEP projects.
- Proven track record of leading complex, multi-site industrial projects.
- Experience handling large budgets, major installations and heavy-duty cooling systems.
