Roles & Responsibilities of an HR Executive

An HR Executive plays a key role in managing an organization’s human resources, ensuring smooth HR operations, employee satisfaction, and compliance with company policies and labor laws.

1. Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring candidates.
  • Coordinate with department heads to understand manpower requirements.
  • Handle offer letters, appointment letters, and onboarding formalities.
  • Conduct employee orientation and induction programs.

2. Employee Records & Documentation

  • Maintain and update employee records, files, and HR databases.
  • Ensure proper documentation such as contracts, IDs, attendance, and personal details.
  • Manage HRMS data accurately and confidentially.

3. Payroll & Attendance Management

  • Track employee attendance, leaves, and working hours.
  • Coordinate payroll processing, salary disbursement, incentives, and deductions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate salary payments.

4. Employee Relations

  • Act as a point of contact between employees and management.
  • Address employee queries, concerns, and grievances professionally.
  • Promote a positive and healthy work culture.

5. Performance Management

  • Support performance appraisal processes and evaluations.
  • Assist managers in setting goals and reviewing employee performance.
  • Maintain appraisal records and performance data.

6. HR Policies & Compliance

  • Implement and communicate HR policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, statutory requirements, and company regulations.
  • Handle compliance related to PF, ESI, gratuity, and other statutory matters.

7. Training & Development

  • Identify training needs in coordination with department heads.
  • Organize internal and external training programs.
  • Track training effectiveness and employee development initiatives.

8. Employee Engagement & Retention

  • Plan and execute employee engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Support retention strategies to reduce employee turnover.
  • Conduct employee feedback and satisfaction surveys.

9. Exit Management

  • Handle resignation processes, exit interviews, and full & final settlements.
  • Ensure smooth offboarding and proper knowledge handover.

10. General HR Administration

  • Support day-to-day HR operations and administrative tasks.
  • Prepare HR reports and MIS for management review.
  • Assist in audits and internal HR assessments.


Educational Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in

    Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology

    , or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA/PGDM) in

    Human Resource Management

    is preferred.


Professional Skills & Knowledge


  • Strong understanding of

    HR policies, procedures, and labor laws

    .
  • Knowledge of

    recruitment processes

    , onboarding, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with

    payroll processing, attendance, and leave management

    .
  • Basic knowledge of

    statutory compliance

    such as PF, ESI, gratuity, and labor regulations.
  • Experience or working knowledge of

    HRMS and payroll software

Experience


  • 1–3 years of experience

    in an HR role (varies based on organization).
  • Internship or practical exposure in HR functions is an added advantage for freshers.
