Role Purpose

To create an operational success for the organization by managing supplier / vendors with a key objective of achieving the Quality, Cost and Delivery.

Functional Responsibilities and Deliverables

• Negotiate commercial terms, price structures, payment milestones, and delivery schedules to ensure optimal value. And contract terms including for job work & labour work .
• Able to develop and suggest a breakthrough procurement strategy to the management with the target benefits and savings (Plates / Forgings / Castings/ Pipe & Pipe fittings -Steel mills, foundries, bought out items like Motors, Gears, and Mechanical Seals , Tailor Made BO, Std BO / Capex, indirect materials consumables ,maintenance items , labour contracts, Sub Contracting - Fab Parts / Machining etc.)
• Develop or Improve Vendor/ Supplier capability. Should be able to manage vendor audits, audit reports, Product & Process Improvement at Vendor. Track the supplier’s performance indicators based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.
• Develop positive relationships and work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Design and other functions
• Responsible for leading the solution for supplier component concerns Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) support, supplier component development and approval and supplier cost improvements
• A team player knows how to develop the competencies and performance of the team. Develop and manage the department objectives including setting up of JD, KPI/ KRA, PMS. Able to define the annual budget requirements, Competent Human resource, Monitoring and Savings.
• Must know the concept of PDCA , Regular MIS reports, Review mechanisms (Daily, Wkly, monthly) , SAP/ ERP , Material Master in ERP, All types of Contracts, PO T&C . Excellent in Excel & MS office.
• Take ownership of purchasing policies, guidelines, on time delivery and quality of the goods received from supplier / vendors
• Key KPI – Procurement cost savings YOY % reduction , Procurement OTD, Procurement lead time reduction, Vendor development success rate.

Desired Skills

• Must have worked as Head Purchase or one level below to Head Purchase in an engineering manufacturing company having turnover in excess of 500 Cr for a minimum 5 years. Minimum 15 years’ experience is a must
• Must possess strong negotiation and business acumen skills. Courage to challenge status quo and implement best practices
• Must demonstrate abilities to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Stay updated with latest welding technologies and fabrication processes (GTAW, SAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW), ASME Sec VIII , alternate as applicable to UK/ EU, Russia , PED, DIN, and AWS. NDT needs as per (ASME section V),
• Champion EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) practices, ensuring full compliance and safety-first culture.
