Head of Purchasing

Role Overview: As a Purchase Head in the solar industry, your primary responsibility will be to oversee procurement operations for solar energy projects. This includes managing sourcing, vendor relationships, and logistics to ensure the cost-effective and timely acquisition of solar components and services. Key Responsibilities: - Develop sourcing strategies for key solar components such as PV modules, inverters, structures, and electrical items. - Drive cost optimization while maintaining high-quality and timely deliveries. - Align procurement operations with approved budgets and internal policies. - Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers focusing on solar-specific needs. - Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity and reliability. - Conduct periodic audits and performance reviews. - Ensure contracts comply with risk management and legal guidelines. - Collaborate with Engineering, Projects, and Quality teams for procurement planning. - Ensure timely material availability to meet project deadlines. - Ensure adherence to MNRE, IEC, ALMM, and BIS regulations. - Maintain thorough documentation of procurement processes and supplier records. - Coordinate with logistics for inventory control and dispatch planning. - Implement efficient inventory management practices. Qualification Required: - Mandatory solar industry experience in EPC or manufacturing (minimum 3-5 years). - Strong understanding of solar PV modules, inverters, and BoS components. - Familiarity with ALMM, BIS, and other statutory compliance frameworks. - Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and team leadership. - Proficient in ERP tools (SAP / Oracle / MS Dynamics). - Able to manage high-pressure environments and multiple project schedules.
