Head of Production

The Production Head is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling end-to-end manufacturing activities of street light poles & Pre-Engineering Building (PEBs) to ensure timely production, optimum resource utilization, cost control, quality compliance, and adherence to safety standards.

Job Location:- Jigani- Bangalore.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control

• Prepare production plan to meet the Customer requirement and execute this production plan.
• Ensure achievement of production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and delivery timelines.
• Monitor production efficiency, machine utilization, and manpower productivity.
• Coordinate with PPC, Stores, Purchase, Job-Work Supplier and logistics for uninterrupted material flow.
• Capable of Handling multiple units of manpower of total 80 persons.

Manufacturing Operations

• Oversee all manufacturing processes including:
• Sheet cutting & slitting
• Bending / forming
• Welding (Longitudinal & flange welding)
• Pole fabrication and assembly
• Hot Dip Galvanizing (in-house or outsourced)
• Finishing, inspection, and packing
• Ensure process adherence as per drawings, specifications, and approved standards.
• Handle custom and high-mast pole production requirements.
• Should be able to maintain Good House keeping in the shopfloor
• Should be able to manage Manpower efficiently, Motivate & Encourage to optimize their efficiency.
• Proactive acting on Shopfloor issues to meet 100% On Time Delivery.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Manufacture of Light poles and High Masts as per the drawing specification.
• Ensure compliance with IS QMS standards.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for stage inspections, final inspection, and customer audits.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality deviations.
• Maintain proper documentation, test reports, and traceability.

Manpower & Team Management

• Lead, motivate, and manage production Supervisors, Engineers, Operators, and Contract labour.
• Plan manpower deployment and shift scheduling.
• Identify training needs and conduct skill development programs.
• Enforce discipline, productivity norms, and performance monitoring.
• Must have own initiative to drive the team.

Maintenance & Equipment Management

• Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of machinery and fabrication equipment.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Plan upgrades, tooling improvements, and process automation initiatives.

Cost Control & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor production costs, scrap, rework, and wastage.
• Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

• Ensure strict adherence to safety norms, PPE usage, and statutory requirements.
• Conduct safety training and audits within the production area.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Sales, Design, Purchase, QA, and Dispatch teams.
• Provide regular MIS reports on production performance, efficiency, and issues.
• Support management in capacity planning and new product development (NPD).

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Sheet metal processing processes and steel fabrication.
• Production planning, scheduling, and resource optimization.

• Exposure to ERP / production reporting systems.
• Lean manufacturing and cost optimization skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:

  BE / BTech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.

• Experience:

  8 to 10 years in Production dept in Mechanical Engineering Industry.
