Role Summary

The Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all finance and accounting operations. This leadership role oversees financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, cash flow management, accounting operations, and risk mitigation for MSM Unify. The Controller acts as a steward of financial data, custodian of internal controls, and a strategic partner delivering actionable insights for business sustainability and growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

h Indian GAAP, Canadian GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS and organization policy.

· Ensure timely and accurate period-end closings, balance sheet reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.

· Supervise all accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.

· Implement and monitor robust accounting policies and procedures; update as required to meet internal and external regulatory standards.

2. Internal Controls & Compliance

· Design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard assets and minimize risks.

· Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements (GST, TDS, ROC, Income Tax).

· Coordinate financial, internal, and tax audits—acting as primary liaison with auditors.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory changes impacting the business.

3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

· Optimize working capital management, monitor cash flow, and lead treasury operations.

· Oversee banking relationships, investments, fund flow, and intercompany transfers.

· Forecast, report, and manage liquidity to meet operational and strategic requirements.

4. Risk Management

· Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.

· Develop and execute risk control measures, ensuring compliance and business continuity.

5. Financial Planning, Analysis & Budgeting

· Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes.

· Monitor, analyze, and report actuals versus budget; present variance explanations and recommend corrective actions.

· Prepare periodic financial dashboards and support board-level reporting requirements.

· Provide strategic financial insights to support business performance and investment decisions.

6. Process Automation & Technology

· Drive digitization and automation of finance processes using ERP/software and analytics.

· Ensure timely, scalable, and accurate financial reporting through effective use of technology.

· Champion continuous process improvement and data-driven decision-making.

7. Team Leadership & Collaboration

· Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.

· Promote cross-functional collaboration with Legal, HR, Tech, and Operations to align financial objectives with overall business strategy.

· Establish a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement within the finance team.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

Chartered Accountant (CA) or Equivalent with 7–8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, of which substantial years must be in a controllership or equivalent role.

· Strong expertise in financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, close processes, and internal controls.

In-depth knowledge of Indian GAAP, Canadian GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, tax laws, and regulatory

· Experience with international accounting, multi-currency operations, and financial consolidations.

· Proficiency in Tally ERP, Zoho, MS Excel, and financial dashboards. Prior experience driving ERP automation is preferred.

· Demonstrated experience in leading audits, implementing internal controls, managing risk, and process improvement initiatives.

· Prior exposure to EdTech, multinational service companies, or similar high-growth sector preferred.

· Excellent analytical, leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

· Strong documentation, SOP writing, and risk-control orientation.

· Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and multicultural environment.
