Role Description
As an ESG Manager at Bough, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering sustainability and decarbonization strategies for clients. You will lead high-impact engagements that align with global ESG standards, drive meaningful disclosures, and support clients in building robust governance and reporting frameworks. You will also manage and mentor a team of consultants, fostering collaboration, growth, and excellence in ESG delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client engagements on ESG strategy, reporting, and regulatory alignment (e.g., SEC, CSRD).
- Act as a subject matter expert on ESG frameworks and emerging sustainability trends.
- Partner with client leadership to integrate ESG strategy with corporate goals and disclosures.
- Guide implementation of new ESG standards and develop related accounting/reporting policies.
- Draft ESG disclosures and conduct benchmarking to identify best practices and improvement areas.
- Provide training and implementation support to client teams on ESG reporting and controls.
- Oversee ESG data collection, validation, and analysis for accurate reporting.
- Manage ESG reporting platforms and databases, driving automation and efficiency.
- Prepare ESG-related presentations and reports for boards, investors, and stakeholders.
- Establish governance and control frameworks aligned with ESG regulations.
- Implement ESG internal control programs, including risk assessments and process mapping.
- Coordinate ESG assurance activities with internal and external auditors.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise clients on compliance strategies.
- Continuously improve ESG reporting processes, systems, and controls.
- Demonstrate strong team management and mentoring skills, with a focus on building high-performing ESG teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in ESG consulting or related roles.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, regulatory environments, and sustainability trends.
- Experience in developing sustainability and operational excellence solutions.
- Familiarity with climate disclosures, carbon accounting, and offset procurement (including EACs).
- Proficiency in ESG data analysis and reporting tools.
