Job Description

Role Purpose

The Business Analyst will serve as a central analytical owner across D2C, e-commerce, operations, and logistics, translating raw data into actionable insights for leadership. The role is responsible for end-to-end MIS ownership, dashboarding, variance analysis, forecasting, unit economics, and decision-support, with a strong mandate on process improvement, cost optimization, and business performance visibility. The position requires high analytical rigor, data integrity discipline, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through insight-driven narratives.


Key Responsibilities

1. MIS, Dashboards & Reporting Ownership

Own end-to-end creation, maintenance, and accuracy of daily, weekly, and monthly MIS across D2C, e-commerce, operations, and logistics.

Design and manage KPI dashboards covering revenue, costs, margins, fulfillment performance, inventory health, and operational efficiency.

Ensure single-source-of-truth reporting by aligning data across ERP, OMS, WMS, finance systems, and sales platforms.

Continuously improve reporting automation, structure, and clarity for faster decision-making.


2. Business Performance & Variance Analysis

Conduct detailed variance analysis across revenue, cost, margin, conversion, fulfillment, and operational KPIs.

Identify performance deviations versus plan, forecast, and historical benchmarks.

Provide root-cause analysis (RCA) with clear issue drivers, quantified impact, and corrective recommendations.

Support leadership reviews with insight-backed commentary rather than raw data dumps.


3. Process Improvement & RCA

Identify process inefficiencies across order lifecycle, inventory flow, logistics costs, returns, and financial reconciliation.

Use data to highlight leakage, bottlenecks, and failure points across teams.

Work with ops, logistics, finance, and tech teams to define corrective actions and track post-implementation impact.

Institutionalize learnings into SOP-level metrics and dashboards.


4. Unit Economics, Pricing & Cost Analysis

Build and maintain unit economics models across products, channels, cohorts, and fulfillment modes.

Analyze contribution margins, variable vs fixed cost structures, and break-even dynamics.

Support pricing, discounting, and promotion decisions through scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis.

Identify cost-reduction and margin-improvement opportunities with quantified business impact.


5. Forecasting, Planning & Decision Support

Develop demand, revenue, cost, and margin forecasts in collaboration with business and ops teams.

Support monthly/quarterly planning cycles with data-backed assumptions and projections.

Prepare leadership-ready business review decks summarizing performance, risks, and opportunities.

Deliver ad-hoc analysis for leadership decision-making with speed, accuracy, and clarity.


6. Stakeholder & Leadership Interface

Act as a key analytical partner to leadership across D2C, e-commerce, ops, logistics, and finance.

Translate complex datasets into simple, decision-oriented insights.

Ensure alignment between business objectives, metrics, and reported outcomes.

Drive adoption of dashboards and analytical outputs across stakeholders.


Required Skills & Competencies

Advanced Excel proficiency (complex formulas, pivots, lookups, dashboards, MIS automation).

Strong analytical thinking with the ability to move from data to insight to action.

Experience in building and owning dashboards and MIS end-to-end.

Strong business acumen in D2C, e-commerce, operations, or supply chain contexts.

Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, including leadership-facing presentations.

High process discipline, data integrity mindset, and ownership orientation.


Experience & Qualifications

2-4 years of experience in business analytics, operations analytics, finance analytics, or related roles.

Experience in D2C, e-commerce, retail, consumer goods, or operations-heavy environments preferred.

Hands-on experience with ERP/OMS/WMS/CRM systems (SAP, Zoho, Salesforce, or similar) is an advantage.

Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Looker, Tableau) and/or SQL is a plus.


KPIs

Accuracy and timeliness of MIS, dashboards, and reports.

Adoption and usage of dashboards by leadership and business teams.

Cost savings or margin improvement identified and driven through analysis.

Improvement in operational efficiency and KPI performance post-intervention.

Quality and impact of decision-support provided to leadership.

Forecast accuracy versus actuals.
