Role Description

The QA Manager at Earnifi is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for ensuring the reliability of Earnifi’s financial systems across rent splitting, EWA, cash advances, and the Visa Charge Card. You will oversee quality for core user journeys, backend services, and key partner integrations.

You will define QA standards, build testing frameworks, drive cross-functional test planning, and own deployment readiness—ensuring financial decisions, partner APIs, and transaction flows work flawlessly.

As the technical authority for defect triage and system reliability, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and vendors such as Plaid, Pinwheel, Lithic, and Scienaptic. This role is ideal for a senior QA leader who thrives in complex environments and builds confidence in mission-critical financial systems.

Responsible for:

• Define the overall QA strategy for Earnifi’s platform, including manual, automated, integration, regression, and release validation.
• Establish quality benchmarks, coverage metrics, acceptance criteria, and go/no-go standards for releases.
• Build scalable test frameworks that support rapid iteration while maintaining strong reliability controls.
• Own QA readiness for releases across mobile app, backend microservices, risk/underwriting systems, and partner integrations.
• Lead regression cycles, UAT coordination, and production smoke tests with clear accountability for sign-off.
• Ensure vendor-provided updates (Plaid, Pinwheel, Lithic, Scienaptic, etc.) go through structured Earnifi QA gates.
• Oversee all critical issue investigations, guiding teams through root-cause analysis using logs, API behavior, system events, and data flows.
• Build and maintain an enterprise-level issue taxonomy and RCA library to accelerate long-term fixes.
• Drive the roadmap for test automation across API, integration, and UI layers.
• Identify where automation delivers material value and build automation requirements into the development lifecycle.
• Partner with Engineering to ensure automated tests run reliably in CI/CD pipelines.
• Oversee creation and maintenance of QA playbooks, incident workflows, runbooks, and testing SOPs.
• Ensure all processes—from product validation to underwriting test suites—are documented at production-grade quality.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 5–7+ years of QA experience in fintech, financial services, payments, lending, payroll, or risk-based systems in an early-stage or fast-scaling startup environment.
• Exposure to mobile app testing in high-reliability environments.
• Strong expertise in debugging systems using logs, API payloads, event streams, and observability tools.
• Proven ability to manage complex release cycles with high reliability and tight timelines.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues into structured, actionable insights.
• Strong grounding in test planning, regression coverage, UAT, automation strategy, and QA governance.
