Role Description

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, developing deep customer relationships, and closing strategic deals to meet ambitious sales targets. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, analytical, and highly driven to contribute to both revenue growth and environmental impact.

This is a field-oriented role requiring extensive customer engagement and collaboration across internal teams to ensure successful onboarding and long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Acquisition & Revenue Growth

  • Own and drive multi-crore annual sales targets.
  • Identify and develop high-potential leads through market research, networking, and referrals.
  • Engage and nurture relationships with enterprise customers, industrial clients, and infrastructure players.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries, prepare proposals, deliver presentations, and negotiate contracts.
  • Close strategic deals that contribute directly to the company’s top-line growth.

2. Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, government policies, environmental regulations, and customer needs.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape to identify differentiation opportunities.
  • Map whitespace opportunities and recommend new sectors and geographies for expansion.

3. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building trust and credibility.
  • Conduct site visits, workshops, and customer meetings to understand challenges and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with delivery and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding and project execution.
  • Maintain long-term relationships through consistent communication, feedback collection, and problem resolution.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product, engineering, operations, and marketing teams to align solutions with customer requirements.
  • Provide inputs to improve product features, pricing models, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Report customer insights and sales performance to leadership for strategic decision-making.

5. Business Reporting & Strategic Insights

  • Track sales pipeline, conversion ratios, and revenue forecasts.
  • Generate reports on sector-wise performance and opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights to guide product development, market entry, and growth initiatives.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (required)
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification (preferred)

Professional Experience:

  • 3–8 years of experience in enterprise B2B sales, preferably in software, IoT, automation, or technology-driven solutions
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets consistently
  • Experience working with industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale enterprise accounts is a plus
  • Exposure to technical solution sales is essential
