Role Overview

Head – Procurement


Key Objectives

  • Strategic Sourcing:

    Develop and execute procurement strategies across IT and non-IT categories.
  • Cost Efficiency:

    Drive cost savings through vendor consolidation, negotiations, and demand planning.
  • Compliance & Risk:

    Ensure strict adherence to regulatory, audit, and internal procurement policies.
  • Vendor Management:

    Build and govern a high-performing vendor ecosystem with strong SLAs and KPIs.
  • Digital Enablement:

    Champion automation, e-sourcing, and analytics-driven procurement processes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    Partner closely with business, finance, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Team Leadership:

    Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing procurement team.
  • A. Key Position Responsibilities

    Responsibility Description

    1

    Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

    Develop and implement category strategies across IT (hardware, software, cloud, services) and non-IT (facilities, marketing, HR, admin, etc.). Conduct spend analysis and identify savings opportunities.

    2

    Vendor & Contract Management

    Build a robust vendor ecosystem with clear SLAs/KPIs, manage performance reviews, and lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, mitigate risks, and ensure timely renewals.

    Compliance & Risk Governance

    Ensure full compliance with internal procurement policies, RBI guidelines, and audit requirements. Conduct vendor due diligence, risk assessments, and ensure governance frameworks are followed.

    Digital Transformation & Process Optimization

    Lead automation initiatives including e-sourcing, e-auctions, and spend analytics. Implement dashboards and reporting tools for procurement visibility and strategic decision-making.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    Partner with internal stakeholders — business units, finance, legal, technology — to ensure procurement strategies align with organizational priorities. Advise leadership on procurement best practices.

    Team Leadership

    Lead, mentor, and build procurement team capabilities. Foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, and business enablement.


    B. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Cost Savings Achieved:

      % year-on-year reduction in procurement spend.
    • Procurement Cycle Time:

      Average time from requisition to PO issuance.
    • Vendor SLA Compliance:

      % of vendors meeting agreed SLAs/KPIs.
    • Contract Coverage Ratio:

      % of total spend under formal contracts.
    • Strategic Sourcing Penetration:

      % spend through competitive sourcing (e.g., RFPs, e-auctions).
    • Digital Procurement Adoption:

      % of processes digitized and automated.
    • Vendor Risk Assessment Coverage:

      % of vendors assessed for financial, operational, and compliance risk.


    C. Qualifications & Experience

    Education:

    • MBA / PGDM in

      Supply Chain, Operations, Finance

      , or related field.
    • Preferred certifications:

      CPSM, CIPS

  • Experience:

    • 12–18 years of experience in procurement, including

      5+ years in a leadership role

      managing both technology and non-technology categories.
    • Prior exposure to

      banking, financial services, or large-scale enterprise procurement

      is highly desirable.
  • D. Organizational Network & Stakeholders

    • Internal:

      Business Heads, COO, CFO, Corporate Services, Procurement Committee.
    • External:

      IT and non-IT vendors, strategic sourcing partners, service providers.
  • E. Competency Requirements

    Technical Skills:

    • Proven expertise managing procurement for

      IT (hardware, software, cloud, services)

      and

      non-IT (facilities, marketing, HR, admin)

      categories.
    • Deep knowledge of

      contract lifecycle management, SLA/KPI frameworks, and vendor governance

      .
    • Familiarity with

      RBI procurement guidelines

      , audit protocols, and risk frameworks.
    • Experience with

      SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle Procurement Cloud

      , or similar platforms.
    • Proficiency in

      e-sourcing, e-auctions, and workflow automation

    • Strong data analysis and dashboarding capabilities for procurement insights.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Leadership experience managing

      cross-functional teams

      and building procurement capabilities.
    • Strong negotiation skills with vendors and internal stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with ability to align procurement with

      business and transformation goals

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including CXO-level interactions.
