Role : Global Head of IT


The Head of IT (CIO Function) is accountable for developing a technology vision and roadmap, aligning implementation with the organization’s long-term business strategy, and driving continuous improvements within the IT budget. The role is pivotal in leading digital transformation, ERP strategy, and cyber security operations, while also championing Birlasoft’s core values and initiatives.


Key Deliverables

1. IT Strategy, Policy, and Birlasoft Initiatives

  1. Conceptualize and implement a technology roadmap and architecture to enable global service delivery.
  2. Benchmark IT with peer organizations, demonstrate IT leadership, and optimize resources.
  3. Ensure IT governance and effective policy rollouts.
  4. Plan and present the annual IT budget to the CTO & Executive Committee .
  5. Drive change management and adoption of new tools, platforms, and hardware.
  6. Managing and leading a team in the development and maintenance of internal applications.
  7. Implementing governance frameworks to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  8. Leading the development of both SAP and non-SAP applications to meet the organization's needs and objectives.
  9. Actively contribute to Birlasoft’s brand, Diversity & Inclusion, Corporate Social Responsibility, and campus connect initiatives.

2. ERP & Transformation Programs

  1. Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of ERP/HRMS systems (e.g., SAP/SF), ensuring business alignment and productivity enhancements.
  2. Oversee major IT transformation programs, including automation, process simplification, and global application rollouts.
  3. Ensure renewal of licenses for all critical platforms and applications.
  4. Identify and drive digital transformation opportunities across the organization.

3. IT Infrastructure Architecture and Operations

  1. Monitor reliability, security, scalability, system uptime, and cost of IT infrastructure.
  2. Oversee back-office operations: helpdesk, MIS, servers, asset management, security, and infrastructure.
  3. Approve hardware procurement, installation, and maintenance.
  4. Recommend improvements for IT effectiveness and efficiency to the CTO.

4. Cyber Security Operations & Risk Management

  1. Oversee cyber security operations, including infrastructure and server protection from external threats, hacking attempts, and incident response.
  2. Monitor BCP (Business Continuity Plan) execution and align with the InfoSec leader for compliant implementation.
  3. Lead crisis management, collaborate with delivery/project teams and InfoSec, and manage information security incidents and response times.

5. Compliance, Certification Management, and Audits

  1. Ensure security certifications are updated in IT systems.
  2. Design compliance checklists and conduct periodic audits.
  3. Ensuring that the organization meets all legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  4. Conducting and participating regularly for internal and external audits to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure continuous adherence to standards

6. Vendor Management

  1. Manage vendor relationships for purchasing, service, and support of all information systems and technology.
  2. Lead security assessments for vendor platforms and oversee project implementation.

7. Performance Management, Recruitment, and Training

  1. Cascade goals, manage performance, career, and appraisals for the team.
  2. Review career development plans and people operating plans.
  3. Accountable for employee satisfaction, attrition, and recruitment.
  4. Identify and sign off training needs for direct reports and organization-wide IT platforms.
  5. Coach and mentor teams to become functional and technical experts.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors/master’s degree in information technology, Computer Engineering (20+ years).
  2. Experience in the IT/ITES sector and awareness of the IT industry process
  3. Deep understanding of ERP, digital transformation, cyber security, industry standards, and IT project management.
  4. Having expertise in the technologies and tools commonly used in the IT/ITES sector.
  5. Strong facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  6. Influential, result-oriented, and effective in managing conflicting priorities.
  7. Staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency
