This is a full-time on-site role for a Fabrication Engineer based in Navi Mumbai. The Fabrication Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of parking systems, ensuring quality control, supervising welding and machining processes, and collaborating with team members to meet project requirements. Additionally, the role includes managing projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and adhering to timelines to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution.
Job Purpose:
To plan, supervise, and optimize production processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and timely completion of manufacturing targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Task Excellence (Production Efficiency & Accuracy)
Ensure production output meets ≥95% of planned targets with minimal deviations. Maintain accuracy in job execution as per design drawings and specifications. Achieve First-Time-Right ratio ≥90% (parts/components produced without rework).
2. Process Improvement & Optimization
Identify and implement at least 2 process improvement initiatives per quarter to reduce cycle time, scrap, or energy usage. Standardize production workflows through SOPs and checklists. Support lean manufacturing / Kaizen initiatives to improve shop-floor efficiency.
3. Quality Assurance & Control
Maintain defect/rework levels at <3% of total production. Ensure 100% adherence to QC checkpoints before handover to installation/dispatch. Actively resolve quality complaints within 48 hours of escalation.
4. Cost Control & Resource Utilization
Achieve material utilization ≥98% (minimize wastage/scrap). Control overtime within approved limits (<5% of total man-hours). Optimize machine utilization rate ≥90%.
5. Safety & Compliance
Maintain zero major accidents on the production floor. Ensure 100% PPE compliance by all workers under supervision. Conduct at least 1 safety drill/toolbox talk per month.
6. Collaboration & Team Contribution
Provide timely guidance to welders, fitters, operators, and helpers for smooth workflow. Achieve ≥90% positive feedback from shop-floor team members and supervisors. Coordinate effectively with design, purchase, and dispatch teams to prevent bottlenecks.
7. Client Relation & Recognition (Indirect Contribution)
Ensure production timelines meet 100% of client delivery commitments. Support installation/dispatch teams with technical clarifications when required. Contribute to client satisfaction by reducing production-related escalations to <2 per quarter.
8. Identifying / Researching & Exploring New Opportunities
Research and propose at least 2 new fabrication techniques/materials/tools per year. Benchmark competitor production practices for cost/quality improvements. Assist seniors in evaluating feasibility of new product lines or custom solutions.
9. Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis
Lead root cause analysis for at least 80% of production issues (delays, quality failures, equipment breakdowns). Document corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring problems. Reduce repetitive errors by at least 20% year-on-year.
10. Documentation & Reporting
Submit 100% accurate production logs and daily progress reports. Maintain traceability of material usage and job cards. Provide weekly reports on production vs. plan, downtime, and manpower utilization.
11. Professional Behavior & Continuous Development
Maintain punctuality & discipline with <2 unapproved absences per quarter. Participate in at least 1 technical training session per half-year. Demonstrate leadership qualities by mentoring junior staff/operators.
