Job Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key growth driver for the company, tasked with identifying and acquiring new clients within the logistics, warehousing, and transportation sectors. This role involves strategic prospecting, developing tailored solutions, negotiating contracts, and building strong, lasting relationships with prospective clients to expand the company's customer base and achieve revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Acquisition:
  • Identify, research, and qualify new business opportunities and target markets within the logistics, warehousing, and transportation industries.
  • Generate leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, industry events, market research, and referrals.
  • Initiate and develop relationships with key decision-makers at prospective client organizations.
  • Understand client needs and challenges comprehensively to propose customized logistics, warehousing, and transportation solutions.
  • Lead the entire sales cycle from initial contact to contract negotiation and closing deals.
  • Solution Development & Presentation:
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (Operations, Solutions, IT, Finance, Legal) to design and price competitive and operationally sound logistics solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective clients.
  • Clearly articulate the value proposition of the company's services, demonstrating how they can optimize the client's supply chain, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Market Research & Strategy:
  • Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in logistics, warehousing, and transportation.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the company's business development strategies and sales plans.
  • Identify potential new services, products, or distribution channels based on market analysis and client feedback.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with prospective clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure a smooth handover of newly acquired clients to the Key Account Management or Operations team, providing clear instructions on agreed-upon solutions and service levels.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Maintain an accurate and robust sales pipeline using CRM software.
  • Track all sales activities, opportunities, and client interactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, pipeline status, market trends, and competitive intelligence for management review.
  • Analyze sales figures and forecasts to identify areas for improvement and ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Industry Engagement:
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company's brand and identify new leads.
  • Represent the company professionally and ethically at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven track record (typically 7+ years) in business development or sales within the logistics, warehousing, or transportation industry. Experience with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) sales is highly advantageous.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of logistics and supply chain processes, including freight forwarding (Air, Sea, Road), warehousing operations, distribution, and value-added services.
  • Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and persuasive selling skills to secure favorable contracts and pricing.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build rapport and establish trust with potential clients.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market data, sales figures, and client needs to develop effective strategies.
  • Self-Motivated & Results-Oriented: A highly driven individual with a strong desire to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, industry events, and prospecting activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
