Job Description: Assistant Manager – Human Resources
Position Overview
The Assistant Manager – HR will support the end-to-end HR function in a fast-paced and evolving manufacturing environment. The role involves driving HR operations, ensuring statutory compliance, strengthening systems and processes, and supporting people-related interventions across the plant. The position requires a proactive, hands-on professional who can work independently in a non-structured setup.
Key Responsibilities
A. HR Operations & Employee Life Cycle
• Manage the complete employee life cycle: recruitment, onboarding, confirmations, transfers, separations, and exit formalities.
• Maintain updated employee records and personal files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Ensure smooth payroll coordination (attendance, leave management, overtime, contractor data, deductions, MIS inputs).
B. Recruitment & Manpower Planning
• Coordinate hiring for staff and shopfloor positions based on manpower requirements.
• Liaise with placement agencies, consultants, and local networks for timely sourcing.
• Conduct initial screening, schedule interviews, and support final selections.
C. Statutory Compliance & Audits
• Ensure strict compliance with labour laws applicable to manufacturing units (PF, ESIC, PT, CLRA, Factories Act, Contract Labour requirements, etc.).
• Maintain statutory registers, forms, contractor documents, and license renewals.
• Support internal and external audits (HR audit, statutory audit, compliance audit).
D. Training & Development
• Identify training needs across departments in coordination with HODs.
• Prepare annual training calendars and ensure effective execution.
• Maintain training records and evaluate training impact.
E. Performance Management
• Support KRA/KPI implementation, mid-year reviews, and annual performance appraisals.
• Track goal-setting progress and ensure timely completion of the performance cycle.
F. Employee Relations & Engagement
• Handle day-to-day employee grievances with empathy and timely resolution.
• Build strong connect with shopfloor teams to maintain a harmonious work environment.
• Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, events, and communication.
G. Compliance, Safety & Workplace Policies
• Ensure all HR and administrative policies are implemented effectively.
• Support safety trainings, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations as required.
• Maintain documentation for POSH compliance and IC coordination.
H. HR Systems, Process Improvement & MIS
• Introduce structure, systems, and standardized formats in HR operations.
• Generate HR MIS reports: headcount, attrition, attendance, overtime, compliance, training, etc.
• Work on digitization initiatives and process improvement.

• Strong knowledge of HR operations and statutory compliance for manufacturing setups.
• Good interpersonal communication and employee-handling skills.
• Ability to work independently in a non-structured environment.
• Organised, detail-oriented, and process-driven mindset.
• Practical problem-solver with a calm and professional approach.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HR systems.
Qualification & Experience
• MBA/Master’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
• 3–6 years of relevant HR experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Exposure to both blue-collar and white-collar workforce management.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Timely and accurate HR documentation & payroll inputs.
• Reduction in compliance gaps and zero audit observations.
• Timely closure of recruitment requirements.
• Employee engagement and grievance resolution effectiveness.
• Training execution as per annual plan.
• Improved HR systems and process structuring.
Employee Relations & Engagement
• Serve as a point of contact for employee queries and grievances.
• Build healthy relationships with workers, supervisors, and staff across units.
• Contribute to organizing small events, celebrations, and team-bonding initiatives to maintain a positive organizational culture.
• Support welfare activities and maintain discipline on the shop floor.
HR Projects & Process Improvement
• Support digitization of HR processes and documentation.
• Help build HR systems around culture, retention, training, and productivity.
• Contribute to improving employee experience and communication channels.
