Role Description

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all supply chain activities within the Aerospace and Defense sector. This includes ensuring a robust, resilient, and compliant supply base for raw materials, cutting tools, specialized processes, facility requirements, and inspection instruments, ultimately supporting on-time delivery and operational efficiency.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1.Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:

  • Lead Aerospace Raw Material sourcing and negotiation strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of identifying, evaluating, onboarding, and qualifying new suppliers for: Raw Materials, Cutting Tools, Special Processes (e.g., heat treatment, surface finishing),Facility Requirements/Equipment and Gauges and Inspection Instruments
  • Conduct thorough reviews of requirements and identified/onboarded suppliers to determine and approve potential suppliers for all categories (raw material, cutting tools, special processes, new facilities/equipment).
  • Oversee the management of supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.

2.Procurement & Commercial Management:

  • Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, including:
  • Requesting and evaluating quotes from suppliers.
  • Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of supplier proposals.
  • Oversee the approval process for Purchase Orders (PO), Letters of Intent (LOI), and Supply Agreements, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the receipt of Proforma Invoices and initiate payment requests.

3.Logistics & Inventory Management:

  • Assign and manage logistics partners for material pickup, ensuring adherence to scope defined in purchase orders.
  • Oversee the material and goods receipt process at the gate entry, ensuring accurate documentation and quality checks.
  • Implement and manage processes for the positive recall of quarantined raw materials, addressing non-conformances and ensuring material suitability.

4.Supply Chain Planning & Analytics:

  • Develop and implement supply chain analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct payable forecasting and long-term planning for supplier payments and overall supply chain financial health.
  • Contribute to overall supply chain strategy development, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market trends.

5.Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with aerospace and defense industry regulations, quality standards (e.g., AS9100), and internal policies.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical risks, supply disruptions, and supplier performance issues.
  • Manage the recall process for non-conforming or quarantined raw materials, ensuring traceability and proper disposition.

6.Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, production, finance, and legal departments to ensure seamless supply chain operations and meet production demands.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding supplier performance, material availability, and potential supply chain challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in supply chain management within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace raw materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in supply chain planning and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., ITAR,DFAR, EAR).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
