The Senior Analyst, Market Insights will be a member of the Strategic Insights team and will provide support to the Senior Managers. The Senior Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on industry and market trends, competitor strategies, and will produce market sizing (TTM>TAM>SAM>SOM) and support market forecasting. S/he will provide insightful recommendations, identify opportunities and threats for ETS, and evaluate and size new market and business opportunities. The incumbent will develop and communicate actionable business intelligence for strategic decision-making to support strategy formulation, business and marketing plans, new product development, and business development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Research & Intelligence Gathering

  • Conduct primary and secondary research to gather needed market and competitive intelligence for assigned internal clients.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends to report on market intelligence and developments.
  • Build and maintain an active network of internal and external intelligence sources. Develop and maintain a bank of relevant secondary data sources.

Market Sizing & Opportunity Assessment

  • Conduct market sizing and opportunity assessments using TTM/TAM/SAM/SOM frameworks and methodologies to quantify market potential and prioritize existing or emerging market opportunities.
  • Identify and analyze new business opportunities in existing, adjacent or new markets and businesses.
  • Develop market forecasts and scenario planning models to support strategic decision making.

Competitive & Strategic Analysis

  • Track competitors, develop competitor profiles and SWOT analyses, and provide reports with insights about competitor strategic plans, products, positioning, marketing communications and social media activities.
  • Prepare and communicate industry, market and competitive intelligence assessments, with business implications and actionable recommendations for ETS strategies and business investments.
  • Identify and evaluate prospective business partners and acquisition candidates.


Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Analyze information/data and build client-ready PowerPoint presentations.
  • Make presentations to marketing and product/program teams, Business Units, and other business stakeholders.
  • Serve as the competitive intelligence subject matter expert on cross-functional teams and other teams as needed.

Governance & Project Oversight

  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function.
  • Provide industry, market and competitive intelligence support to Senior Managers.
  • Design and manage third party market and competitive intelligence studies. Manage consultants to ensure achievement of project objectives within established deadlines and budgets.

Skills

End-to-End Project Management: Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize assignments, and work under pressure to complete assignments within tight deadlines. Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with Senior Managers and on teams. Strong problem-solving skills and customer service orientation. Strong detail orientation across all aspects of project planning, execution, analysis and reporting. Must be very effective in quality controlling the content of their project work.
Competitive Intelligence: Deep understanding of market and competitive intelligence approaches and terminology to effectively conduct assigned projects. Strong ability to work within an ambiguous and rapidly changing business environment.
Data Analyses: Strong critical thinking and data analysis skills. Superior ability to synthesize large quantities of data from disparate sources and translate data succinctly into key insights. Ability to read, understand and translate financial statements into major findings and implications. Superior analytical skills, with the ability to make connections between multiple data points from disparate sources, derive meaningful insights and determine business implications. Superior ability to interpret, integrate qualitative and quantitative data, employing advanced analytical methods for market sizing (TTM, TAM, SAM, SOM), forecasting, and scenario planning to support strategic business decisions.
Communication Skills (Written & Oral): Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and report writing skills. Strong data visualization and reporting skills. Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills. Ability to express complex ideas and findings in a concise and audience relevant manner. Strong presentation skills in English.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Fluency in a second language is a plus (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish or Portuguese).
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to forge good working relationships with internal clients at all levels, industry experts/analysts and service providers.
Initiative: Acts on his/her own without being prompted. Handles problems independently. Resolves issues without relying on extensive help from others; does more than is expected or asked. Knows when situation requires that s/he should ask for help from his/her manager.

Meeting Management/Facilitation Skills: Ability to lead meetings effectively both in-person and in virtual formats, including hybrid environments. Comfortable working across time zones, including alignment with U.S. business hours.

Cross-Matrix Coordination (across ETS SBUs/FCEs): Ability to understand the big picture and determine whether competitive intelligence findings have implications to one or more product line or division and effectively communicates information to appropriate areas. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, functioning in a results-orientated manner.

Software: Advanced proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of analytical tools such as Power BI, Alteryx is a plus.

Ability to travel (up to 5% of work hours).
Experience and Skills:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master's degree in an analytical field.

Experience

  • Business/Management consulting experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Market/Competitive Intelligence Analyst, Market Research/Consumer Insights Assistant/Associate or other relevant analytical position is required.
