Role OverviewAs a Senior Engineering Manager in Service Engineering, you will be a key driver in transforming how Maersk manages and delivers technology services, platforms, and automation at global scale. You will lead engineering teams that build, run, and evolve Maersk’s core collaboration and productivity platforms – including
ServiceNow, Atlassian (Jira & Confluence), Miro, Power Platform (incl. Power Automate), and Power BI
– alongside the
Maersk Application Catalog (MAC)
, which sits at the center of our enterprise application ecosystem.You will be responsible for defining the technology vision, building high-performing engineering teams, and driving best-in-class platform adoption, automation, and user experience across Maersk. By combining open-source engineering, automation, and SaaS platform strategy, your teams will deliver unified, API-first services that integrate assets, incidents, change, applications, and analytics into a single connected view for the enterprise.Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & People Development
- Manage, mentor, and lead multiple engineering teams (15–20 engineers) across ServiceNow, Atlassian, Miro, Power Platform, and MAC.
- Build technical leaders within the team by empowering, challenging, and coaching them.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and engineering excellence.
- Platform & Tools Leadership
- Provide engineering oversight for ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and Miro – ensuring platforms are stable, scalable, and aligned to business value.
- Lead consolidation, migration, and optimization initiatives across collaboration tools to deliver cost efficiency and simplicity.
- Define and enforce best practices for platform development, customization, and governance.
- Automation & Workflow Orchestration
- Drive enterprise automation using Power Automate, ServiceNow workflows, and custom orchestration to simplify business processes.
- Establish frameworks and reusable automation components that scale across multiple functions.
- Deliver measurable efficiency gains (FTE savings, productivity improvements, and user experience enhancements).
- Analytics & Insights
- Lead the engineering of Power BI solutions integrated with MAC, ServiceNow, and Atlassian data sources.
- Ensure that platforms provide actionable insights with strong governance, data security, and self-service adoption.
- MAC Development & Integration
- Oversee the Maersk Application Catalog (MAC), the central registry of all enterprise applications.
- Build and evolve MAC as the integration backbone across incident, change, asset, automation, and analytics systems.
- Drive API-first development to connect MAC with open-source and SaaS platforms across Maersk.
- Architecture & Strategy
- Define long-term architecture, technology roadmaps, and release goals across multiple platforms.
- Lead technical design discussions and drive alignment with platform and enterprise architects.
- Represent Service Engineering at internal and external events, sharing Maersk’s engineering and automation journey.
Key Tech Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of engineering leadership in large-scale enterprise IT.
- Experience with tools such as ServiceNow, Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), Miro, and Power Platform (esp. Power Automate).
- Strong background in API-first engineering, open-source adoption, and platform integrations.
- Experience in building automation frameworks and orchestrating business workflows.
- Knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Demonstrable delivery of high-volume, high-availability systems with strict non-functional requirements.
- Strong communication skills, ability to influence across teams, and proven stakeholder management at senior leadership levels.
