Position Summary

The Plant Head will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the rice milling plant operations, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and driving operational excellence. This senior leadership position requires direct reporting to the Managing Director on all plant-related matters including production performance, quality control, cost management, safety compliance, and strategic initiatives. The Plant Head will serve as the primary liaison between the plant operations and senior management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Oversee complete rice milling operations from raw material procurement to finished product packaging and dispatch
• Plan, organize, and direct daily plant operations to maximize efficiency and productivity
• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines
• Monitor the entire milling process including cleaning, dehusking, polishing, grading, and packaging operations
• Coordinate maintenance of rice mill machinery and equipment to minimize downtime
• Ensure optimal utilization of plant capacity and resources

Quality Control & Compliance

• Maintain stringent quality control standards throughout the production process
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and industry quality standards
• Implement and monitor quality control protocols for rice grading and product specifications
• Ensure adherence to statutory requirements including Factories Act, labor laws, pollution control regulations, and environmental standards
• Conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective actions as needed

Reporting to Managing Director

• Provide comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the MD on plant performance, production output, and operational metrics
• Present detailed analysis of production efficiency, quality parameters, cost variances, and key performance indicators
• Report on production targets achievement, inventory levels, and resource utilization
• Communicate operational challenges, risks, and recommend strategic solutions to senior management
• Prepare and present budget proposals, capital expenditure requests, and investment recommendations

Team Management & Development

• Lead, motivate, and manage plant workforce including supervisors, operators, and support staff
• Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations
• Provide training and skill development programs for employees to enhance productivity
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Handle employee relations, resolve operational conflicts, and ensure workplace harmony

Safety & Risk Management

• Implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs to prevent workplace injuries and accidents
• Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
• Develop emergency response procedures and conduct safety training sessions
• Identify operational risks and formulate preventive strategies
• Maintain plant security and ensure safe working environment for all personnel

Cost Management & Optimization

• Control production costs and optimize resource allocation to meet budgetary goals
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs per unit including raw materials, labor, energy, and overhead
• Implement waste reduction initiatives and cost-saving measures
• Track inventory levels, minimize material wastage, and ensure efficient stock management
• Analyze production data to identify cost reduction opportunities

Supply Chain & Inventory Management

• Coordinate with procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials (paddy rice)
• Monitor raw material quality and manage supplier relationships
• Oversee inventory management for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
• Ensure accurate inventory records and optimize inventory turnover ratios
• Coordinate with logistics teams for timely dispatch and distribution

Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and supply chain partners to facilitate smooth operations
• Build and maintain positive relationships with regulatory authorities and government agencies
• Collaborate with other departments including finance, HR, quality, and marketing to achieve company objectives
• Represent the plant in meetings with senior management and external stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience Educational Background

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Food Technology, Agricultural Engineering, or related field (mandatory)
• Master's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, or Business Administration (preferred)

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10-15 years of overall experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5-7 years in a managerial role
• Proven experience in rice mill operations, grain processing, or food manufacturing industry (highly preferred)
• Demonstrated track record of managing plant operations, leading teams, and achieving production targets
• Experience in implementing process improvements and cost optimization initiatives

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹1,100,000.00 per year
