Packaging engineer must be a motivated and organized person who is responsible for Packaging & testing planning, Optimum utilization of Manpower, team work etc. Excellent communication and management skills with an ability to motivate and get product receipts on time from suppliers, stakeholders, manufacturing personnel and the entire project team. The role involves ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This Engineer will lead a team of technicians and collaborate with cross-functional departments and ensure compliance with industry and customer standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluating the complete Packaging & Testing process for pumps and compressors.
- Daily MIS generation on Packaging & Testing progress.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline Packaging processes.
- Lead, train, and mentor Packaging and testing technicians to achieve high productivity and skill development.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and production planning teams to ensure availability of components and materials.
- Manage all stages of product testing, including hydrostatic, pressure, performance, and leak tests.
- Ensure all protocols align with customer requirements, industry regulations (API, ISO, etc.), and safety standards.
- Analyze and resolve product malfunctions and performance issues during testing.
- Maintain comprehensive testing documentation for internal records and customer audits.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities based on skills and production priorities.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions to address recurring issues in packaging or testing processes.
- Enforce compliance with workplace safety standards and promote a safety-first culture.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Packaging time, testing accuracy, and failure rates.
- Maintain and update packaging and testing documentation to ensure traceability for customer audits.
Technical/Functional Skills
:
- Strong knowledge of pumps & compressors.
- Knowledge of Base frame leveling.
- Blue matching pump/motor with base frame.
- P & ID Expert
- Fabrication knowledge, welding joints.
- Overview of control & instrumentation
- Instrumentation tubing knowledge, Tagging, Loop checking
- Knowledge of Oil flushing of LOS, Pneumatic test of seal system.
- Hand on Vibration probe setting
- Painting, packing knowledge
- Expertise in packaging procedures, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ISO, and ASME.
- Hands-on experience with tools and equipment used in testing (e.g., flow meters, pressure gauges, vibration analysis tools).
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick, data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of ERP systems for production planning and tracking.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of Packaging & Testing scheduling, controlling experience in pump & compressor industry.
