Job Description

Job Title: General Manager – Plant Operations
Department: Operations

Work Time – 09:00am to 06:30pm
Reports To: Managing Director

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage overall plant operations to ensure seamless coordination between departments such as production, quality, purchase, planning, HR, and reporting. The GM will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, improving productivity, maintaining product quality, managing the workforce, and aligning plant operations with company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Management
  • Oversee daily production activities to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Ensure proper resource utilization and zero downtime.
  • Implement continuous improvement practices (e.g., Lean, 5S, Kaizen).
  • Quality Assurance
  • Monitor and enforce quality control processes and standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with certifications.
  • Purchase & Supply Chain
  • Oversee procurement of raw materials, consumables, and services.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and negotiate for cost-effective deals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with store and accounts.
  • Planning & Coordination
  • Manage production planning and raw material forecasting.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align operations with customer orders.
  • Set daily/weekly/monthly production and manpower plans.
  • People Management & HR Coordination
  • Involve in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of employees.
  • Maintain discipline, address grievances, and boost team morale.
  • Work with HR for performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers.
  • Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Provide regular MIS reports to management on production, quality, and KPIs.
  • Analyze plant performance and initiate corrective measures.
  • Lead review meetings with department heads.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting
  • Monitor and control operational costs.
  • Assist in plant budget preparation and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure legal compliance.
  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Act as a strategic partner to the top management.
  • Drive innovation and change for operational excellence.
  • Guide department heads and foster a performance-driven culture.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field (M.Tech preferred).
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in plant operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing systems, quality standards, and ERP tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹65,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
