The Regulatory Reporting team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in accordance with Federal Reserve requirements for American Express Company and its subsidiaries. We perform independent processes to prepare, review and analyze financial information with a key focus on control and compliance and addressing new Federal Reserve requirements, including new reports. We work extensively with our own market financial controllers, subject matter experts, General Counselâs Office, technology partners, and external regulators. The incumbent should be willing to work in a controlled environment and prior experience of understanding the need of controls in the process will be an advantage. He/ She has to be fully compliant with all applicable Company policies relating to control and compliance.
Controls are the procedures, policies, and means by which an organization monitors and controls the direction, allocation, and usage of its financial resources. Ensuring that our internal controls are well-defined will result in increased reliability of financial reporting and compliance with applicable laws.
This position will be a part of the Financial Reporting Cluster. It will primarily support the External Reporting function and will be part of Regulatory Reporting team. The job would entail the following activities:
âąÂ              Preparing the regulatory filing and supporting documentation/schedules.
âąÂ              Contribute on strengthening controls and complaince environment on process and SOX function.
âąÂ              Ensuring report compliance with Federal Reserve and other regulatory reporting requirements, the Companyâs internal review procedures and all other applicable policies and procedures.
âąÂ              Supporting projects to transform the preparation of regulatory reports, including automation and simplification.
âąÂ              Supporting the Managers and Director in responding to inquiries of (i) Federal Reserve; (ii) GCO; and (iii) other regulatory related inquiries.
âąÂ              Supporting the Managers and Director in implementation of analytical and reporting processes, procedures and systems using the Companyâs control framework.
âąÂ              Coordinating with various Subject Matter Experts, market controllers and Global Reporting leaders.
âąÂ              Displaying thought leadership and supporting work/life balance initiatives.

âąÂ                 US GAAP knowledge & experience
âąÂ                 Regulatory/ external reporting experience is preferable
âąÂ                 Knowledge of SOX/ PRSA and control & compliance preferrable
âąÂ      At least 1 - 2 years' experience in Financial Accounting/Reporting
âąÂ      Chartered Accountant/CPA preferred
âąÂ      Prior experience with U.S. regulatory/SEC reporting or public accounting a plus.
âąÂ      Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact independently with senior business partners / customers etc.Â
âąÂ      Reporting and analysis experience will be an advantage. Familiarity with US GAAP and financial accounting experience is preferred.
âąÂ      Self-driven, team player, have analytical skills and inclination for process improvement.
âąÂ      For an internal candidate, knowledge of company policies, businesses, finance processes and systems are desirable.
âąÂ      Understanding of financial domain and AXP systems.
âąÂ      Able to understand and enhance the control environment around the filings.
âąÂ      Able to understand the SOX and operational controls associated with the process
âąÂ      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Quick learner.
âąÂ      Must be proficient in MS Applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.ââââ
