Collection Head

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram for a Collection Head. The Collection Head will oversee the organization's collections activities, ensuring timely recovery of payments, developing and implementing effective debt collection strategies, and monitoring collections performance. Additional responsibilities include analyzing financial data, managing and leading the collections team, and developing processes that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Leadership & Team Management

  :
• Lead and mentor a team of collection professionals to ensure efficient and effective collection of outstanding debts.
• Set goals, monitor team performance, and provide guidance and training to enhance team capabilities.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify areas for individual and team development.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the collections team.

• Strategy & Process Improvement

  :
• Develop and implement collection strategies that align with the company’s overall financial goals and risk management policies.
• Continuously assess and refine collection processes to ensure operational efficiency and reduced days sales outstanding (DSO).
• Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risk mitigation strategies.
• Create and maintain clear documentation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for the collections process.

• Collections Oversight

  :
• Oversee the collection of delinquent accounts, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up on overdue payments.
• Develop and manage communication protocols with customers to resolve payment issues.
• Handle escalated customer disputes or complex collection cases, working towards amicable and timely resolutions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations (e.g., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, GDPR for customer data).

• Reporting & Analytics

  :
• Prepare and present regular reports on collections performance, outstanding accounts, and cash flow status to senior management.
• Analyze aged debt reports and develop action plans to reduce overdue receivables.
• Provide insights into the credit risk associated with the portfolio, recommending action steps based on data.

• Collaboration with Other Departments

  :
• Work closely with the sales and credit teams to assess customer creditworthiness and establish payment terms.
• Liaise with legal and finance teams for escalated cases, including decisions around bad debts or legal action.
• Collaborate with IT or systems teams to implement and optimize collection software/tools.

• Risk Management

  :
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks related to collections and overdue accounts.
• Ensure the timely escalation of high-risk accounts for legal or other recovery action.
